why orkut is banned in some places

i dont think that it is bad they have thought that students are wasting a lot time

nope, its not at all bad , but the thing is like all places you mentioned as well as some IT companies , and colleges, they banned it allreday, not because its a bad, but peopel get adiicted to this and keep spending lot time there, instaed of studying and doing work, so just to avoid this they simple ban that, they are right at their place though!!!

I think orkut is not banned. But, browser with high security not opens orkut.com

orkut is like a chatting. Most of the colleges doesnot permit chatting like yahoo,rediff,msn chatting.They recognised orkut is also meant for chatting. so they banned orkut. I think it is not bad . orkut is only for home users,regular users not for college purpose.

its bad or good but all the students just open thier orkut account and simply waste their time in colleges..though there are some communities abt studies..i dont fine anyone who enters into it and spend some time...they(even me) just look for girl's profiles... but there are always proxy sites that are available..... my administrator blocks even these proxy sites.....but we hav loads of links that can overcome these restrictions... if anybody want them just mail me at luckyguy_1212@yahoo.com

orkut is a community which brings u into any community u want.for e.g.ur childhood frens with whom u might not have the contact for many years.In my case itself I lost all contacts with my school frens thanks to orkut i have met them there.i was so thrilled.If we take the negative side some things r there which makes the colleges ban orkut.what do u feel?

You cannot call it bad. But, the fact is it is so good a concept that people get addicted to it. They forget all their works and get themselves involved in orkut. Thats why orkut is banned in most places particularly in colleges where students are there to study and if their attention is diverted, all is gone.
