How long have you been married or been with your significant other?

In the spirit of Valentine's Day, I thought that I would post another positive, happy story. This one is about Britain's longest married couple. They say that their secret is to take a little time for romance each day, and I sure couldn't agree more. It is exactly what I hope to do with my true love when I finally find him! ^_^
Anyway, Frank and Anita Milford have been married now for 78 years, with their 79th anniversary coming up this year. They are 99 and 98 years old, respectively, and are still very much in love.
If you want to read more about their story, you can here:

How long have you been married, or with your partner? I think that stories of people who have been married over 30, 40, 50 years are always amazing to hear! ^_^

I've been with my fiance for the same length of time... =) We're turning three this March as well.
Hmmm.. come to think of it shywolf, I'd love it if my relationship could last that long... or longer if possible... Nowadays, it's so rare to find people who can last that long together... Most of the people I know tend to lose the romance as early as the second year of marriage...
Wel, I guess it's all a matter of learning to fall in love with your partner everyday... Do not let go of the "magic" that made you fall in love in the first place. =)

My husband and I were married in 1950, but it doesn't seem nearly that long. Probably one reason we have never even thought about getting a divorce is that we are both Christians, and the Bible says that God hates divorce. You can search the Bible from cover to cover and you will find only one excuse for divorce.
I would say to those who are thinking of divorce, forget it and put your effort to making the marriage you already have a happy one. I have found that most people are as happy as they want to be.

My husband and I are the same way! We don't even joke about the "D" word. It's worse then a four letter word in our house.

I agree that D word doesn't belong in the vocabulary of a married couple. It should be totally banned from any thinking.

I think that you and your husband are very wise. My parents are the same way. They've been through rough times but they are always there for each other in the end. It's definently something to look up to. It's weird how many kids have divorced parents these days. I hope that when I get married I can have a strong and healthy relationship like that. Just know you'r kids will definenlty be thanking you.

My wife and I have been married for 7 years and have know each other for about 12 years. We met at the place where we both work at. It took me awhile to ask her out but I finally did and she said yes and the rest is history. I am not sure what I am going to get her for Valentines Day yet. It will be nice. She is a wonderful wife and a Great mother to our 3 kids.

It will be 22 years in April. 22 very long years that have flown by. Yup, that's how it works. I would never get married again. I would have no motivation since I've had my kids and don't need anyone else's money. I am completely secure in myself and could easily live alone & love every minute of it, so long as my kids visited often. :-)

We have been happily married for almost 47 years and are "more" married now than ever. OK so I know you can't be more married than married, and we can't even be more committed to each other than we ever were, because commitment is total, and I guess that is what I am saying.
We aren't just married because we don't believe in divorce. We are married because we want to be married to each other and couldn't even think about the possibility of not being so. We are happy - extremely happy - with each other.

After a courtship of four years, my husband and I got married on the 22nd Feb 1969 and we have now been married for almost 38 years. It seems like only yesterday. We tried to book the Church for the 14th Feb, but it was all booked up and the nearest we could get was the 22nd. I would say that we are more in love to-day than we were on our wedding day.

Wow! I wonder what it was about the number 14 that was going on there with your two marriages? *laugh* I'm sorry that your second one didn't last too long :( I'm sure that you will be with your newest partner for a very long time! You are such a loving and thoughtful person, from what I've seen of your posts around the site. You deserve the best, and I hope that you've finally found it! ^_^

Been married for 26 years (27 on Aug. 2nd this year).
My wife is God's gift to me and I love her. Marriage is the second best thing topside of earth; the first being a right personal relationship with God.
Joyful everyday,

I've been married for 2 years. My husband and I were exclusively dating for 5 years before we got married.
You're right. People who've been in long marriages who remain very much in love are very inspiring. I hope to have plenty more wonderful years with my husband, although I doubt we'll celebrate a 70th anniversary since we're both in our late 30's already :).

I'm with my bf for 12 1/2 yrs now. I met him during my freshman yr in college. We attended the same univesity & course. I didn't really saw him as a boyfriend material then. Why? We don't have anything in common. Likes, dislikes, etc. But we enjoy hanging out together. After a year of being friends, while all of our common friends were enjoying their summer break, we had to take our respective remedial class. Every afternoon of that 2 months of summer classes, he never missed on bringing me home. I don't know exactly when we became aware of getting intimately close. May 11, 1995 when we officially became a couple, I was 16yrs old & he was 18. I literally grew up with him. I learned a lot from him and what I had become is because of him. Anyways, we're getting married next year.=)
