This might become a funny story hours after it happened but it certainly wasnt a funny story when it happened to me.
My dog and I just came back from a walk. I went out again to go to the nearby store to buy juice. Closed the door but barely even totally closed it. Just left him for 5minutes or 10 maximum! When i came back, imagine the look on my face when i discovered the door was locked and my dog was whining behind it. I had no keys, no wallet and no phone! So thankfully there was a few change inside our dvd rental box. I was like what am i gonna do... Spare keys? Hmmm not next to me at the moment..
So i ended up going to an internet cafe texting everyone from online. I texted my mom, my dad, my two brothers and one girlfriend. I was looking for my rescue team obviously. I almost got frustrated when no one answered. thankfully one of my brothers managed to wake up from his nap and told he can come and open the door with the spare keys he has:P Even if he doesnt live with me, Thank god for him having some keys still...
I was radio silent and stuck outside from 530 to 8pm until my bro came! 530 to 630 was spent in the cafe which took most of the change i found. So no other plans which involves money...:P Later that night, found out that even my youngest brother didnt have spare keys.:P There could have been two of us right there outside waiting...:P
I guess my dog decided to follow me and wanted to open the door but closed it instead.:P he had the amazing innocent face when i got in..:P Hard to be angry or anything for that:P

i often get trapped in my home when my mom gets out to bring my little sister back home from school. every week it happens for around 3-4 times and i always shout to myself like: i am the dumbest ever and i am going to have a key for myself. but i forgot every single time. i still dont have any key and i am not sure when again i am going to be trapped outside again! lol

Pets are amazing for creatures with no thumbs..(usually,LOL) shutting doors...etc, mine stood on the table when he was home alone once, stood on the memo button of the answering machine and taped me a message of himself complaining to go outside. I caught him again trying it later so I know how he did it,dang smart these pups!!

How terrible to be locked out for that long. I can really feel for you here as this happend to me about ten years ago. I had a wonderful dog who was my best friend. She had a problem when I would leave with out her and she would get really upset. I guess this one time she was so upset that she locked me out. I went to the neighbors and tried calling all of my family but no one was home. I went back to my place and saw my dog just whining and looking at me. I finally decided to break a window to get in. That was one expensive lesson to learn. I started leaving a spare key with my neighbor after that. You have beautiful dog and I am sure that she did not mean any harm.

heheh naughty but nasty dog of yours. My cat is indoor so she doesn't do that to us, we lock her inside all the time.
Once we got locked out it was our own mistake and my husband just kicked the door open LOL no waiting game there

your dog looks so innocent and lovely.I can understand why you couldn't get angry at it.dogs usually don't like to be left alone in the house. So it must have tried coming out and going with you.Anyways I foung it quite amusing. You had to wait for almost 3 hours outside your own house.seems you should always carry the keys with you and could give one to your neighbour too.

If only animals could talk! Or understand! Least you can laugh at it now, but at the time I'm sure it was far from funny. Animals have wonderful expressions and you can almost guess what they are thinking but the looks on their faces! Just like big kids they are, thanks for sharing!

Awe, what a cute dog you have. It is hard to stay mad at them, isn't it? I too have been locked out by the dogs by just going out to the mailbox. I have learned not to go out of the house for any reason without my keys.

Lol, at least you were dressed when it happened! I was wearing a nightshirt. I was only planning on reaching out the door to get my mail from the mailbox, but there was a magazine of some sort in there, and it was stuck, so I stepped out really quick. I had a Shepard/husky mix at the time, and she stood up on her hind legs to see where I was going...and pushed the door shut. It locked. After a minute of stunned silence, I decided I had to do the only hting I could think of, which was run the block to my dad's house to get my spare keys he kept for me(good thing we lived close by!!)barefoot and in a not so long nightshirt. I think that's the quickest I ever covered that block! Thankfully it was early enough that there wasn't alot of traffic!

Awww, this is a memory that will stick with you forever. I looked at the picture of your cute little companion and thought to myself "she is fibbing us..look how innocent he looks"...hehe just kidding with you. Animals are so special and each have their own little personalities. Maybe he was getting back at you because you didn't buy him a treat that he was craving, hehe. Your dog looks a little bit like mine, except mine is blonde and a lab mix. They're so much fun, eh?

That's why we all love our dogs though, isn't it! I mean I could not live without my dogs around! They are the best companions, even when they do things like try to break the 42 inch plasma by throwing their toys! You must live somewhere warm! If that had happened to me right now, I'd be in big trouble because there is more than a foot of snow on the ground, and it is well below freezing right now! About -20 celcius!

Actually, everyone decided to give it a laugh because it was just incredibly unfortunate of me to have a dog who is smart enough to want to be with me by closing and locking the door behind me:P Couldnt be mad at him even if when i opened the door, he managed to be soooo cute and behaved:P He just sat there looking at me like a good lil pup:P

I used to always lock myself out. I had one of those turn the button on the knob locks and I would naturally out of instinct lock it. I locked myself out all the time.
