What Sort Of Artwork Hangs On Your Wall Or Takes Pride Of Place On Your Shelves?

We all have different tastes in artwork.
Modern, classic, masterpieces, posters or drawing's our kids have done.
My walls have a mixture.
Paintings done by my sister and my children.
Modern prints by unknown artists and a few prints by Van Gogh and David Hockney and a couple of posters of my favourite musicians.
Also a collection of photos all in frames in my toilet.
Photographs of my family take pride of place on my shelves, and of course my children's drawings are on my fridge and kitchen cupboards.
Whats hanging on your walls or displayed on your shelves.
Art is in the eye of the beholder and represents our taste.
So what takes your fancy, that you have displayed in your home.

My mother in law has painted on a huge canvas three of my older kids, at the time she started painting, my youngest wasn't born yet. I have the 3 big canvas paintings of my three older children.

I love art. In my bedroom I have some pages out of magazines that just looked really interesting to me. Also in my bed room I have a bunch of pictures just taped to the wall, all of my 4 month old son. At work I have some things I have drawn and more pictures of my son and other family members. Behind my desk is a big painting, it's beautiful. I dont know who it's by... and i thin it actually came from tjmax or something. ha ha.
I don't have a house of my own so all i have is a room. when i do get my own home where i can decorate my walls however i want, i will have abstract art.
i also like a lot of black & white art.

I hope you get your own home soon and have a great time filling the walls with abstract art.
Its nice to diplay our own individual tastes, it is a way of expressing our thoughts and feelings.
Also, you can't beat photo's of your kids, although sometimes I get quite sad when I look at those of my kids when they were babies. It only seems like yesterday!
Thanks.

I have some artwork of my own that I have created that are on my walls as well as some scenery pictures that I have bought or were given to me as gifts. I will include a picture of my artwork, which is abstract/geometric. I do my artwork mainly on tshirts and poster boards but also vases, jewelery boxes and other materials and items.

Wow!!
How long did it take you to do this. It is an interesting piece as your eyes move constantly over all the different patterns and shapes +
Thanks for sharing this.
I would have this form of artwork on my walls.

I have nothing but my father in law's artwork hanging on the walls in my house. He is wonderful and known internationally. I have included a pic of one of his works, this is a wood burning created on natural wood free handed. No inks or pens ever touch the wood. Any way, he does a variety of arts, from oils to pastels, to wood burning. He is a wonderful artist.

He is good and got a + rating from me.
It must be great to have the oppotunity to hang all his work on your walls.
I have done the same with my sisters, although I wish she would pull her finger out and realise that many people would buy her artwork if she put the effort in, but alas she is too lazy and a kept woman that I feel does not give her the motivation.
My son is a brilliant artist and is only 13 yrs old. I am thinking of changing my avatar to show one of his graffiti drawings, even though he is abit dubious!!
Thanks for your picture.
Heres a drawing of one of my sons tags!!!

Most of it is my own paintings, my father’s paintings, my collection of Chinese things, special figurines and things with some personal significance. Being a bit more than an occasional magpie, the collection has now grown to cover pretty much all available space.
Mementos of significant events, like publishing a book, also keep the paint clean. Some of the things are like a storyboard, like a new font I’m working on near the computer. I’ve also got some oak leaves, gum nuts, and other things blue tacked to the wall, they do look good.
Art is probably in the mind of the beholder. Which makes me wonder what decorators use for minds.

Its great to have all our memories displayed around us. I love it.
All my photos in the toilet brings back many happy moments for me.
It is something that is precious to us and we can display what we like, even if it is not to everyones taste.
I have a picture in my head that your home does not have a blank bit of wall.
Whats the point of putting things in a drawer when it can be displayed.
Thanks.

That's pretty right. I find it a good use of space, and it does help in my work to have a range of things available, both aesthetic and functional.

The majority of the pictures hanging on the walls of our house is of our son, there are also a few family portraits from both sides of the family. I keep telling myself I need to find some paintings or something to make the place a little more brighter, the only problem is finding something that both my boyfriend and I agree on! In the spare bedroom upstairs I have hung up this large latch hook of a wolf I did when I was younger as well as a smaller Nascar one in my son's bedroom. Perhaps this summer I'll have to go to some local flea markets and see if I can come across something to both our likings.

our house isn't fixed yet. needs more improvement. but my framed crosstitches are hanged on our wall. they are not really a tremendous "wow" thing to see. but i'm proud of them since i did them myself. i love my family. so, most of our pictures are in frames displayed on our shelves. it's nice to look at every morning. we're always together everyday. but it's always nice to look back at that time when we took that photo together.

Photos are so much better displayed than just left in the cupboard most of the time.
Thanks for your comments.

In the livingroom, my husband's acrylic paintings of medieval life scenes and warriors. His suit of armor forged by him from old defunct street signs he procured from a junkyard is standing in the corner, waiting for him to wear for demos and weekend medieval war practice. Likewise all the medieval weapons he's made from rattan, tennis balls and duct tape. On the shelves are statues of knights and fantasy birds of prey and dragons and a drinking tankard collection.
The walls are painted like bricks from the interior of a castle, heavy tapestried curtain are at the windows (which I;ve sown) and wooden chests, ottomans and stuffed chairs complete the room.
Need I say more?

Your husband must be your Knight in shining armour!! He's not related to Arthur by any chance? ;)
Your home must be like going back in time.
Thanks for the picture lol!!!!

I think when we have little ones our whole home is covered in their artwork.
It is always lovely to look at and gives our kitchen a makeover every few weeks when each new painting or drawing takes pride of place.
Thanks!!

My dad used to work on the rivers and he helped build London Bridge. We still have fragments of the old bridge.
I love homes that depict our life's and fond memories.
Thanks.
