I hate scary movies! They scare the hell out of me.
But, I think The Exorcism of Emily Rose is a brilliant movie although I had trouble going to sleep at night.

I'm the type of person who easily gets scared of almost anything. That's why I really don't watch horror movies. Because after watching those types of movies, it will be glued to my mind and I will really find it hard to sleep or do anything alone. I'm that scared. So I realy refrain from watching horror movies.

Well, it wasn't the scariest to me, but when I watched "Scream", the first one, my sister was too freaked out to go home by herself. I got a kick out of that. Yeah, I know, I shouldn't have. : (
As for my scariest movie, at least to me? It would be "The Birds" directed by Albert Hitchcock. I know it didn't have the thrills movies now days has, it was so real and possible looking, that it freaked me out.

The movie that scared me the most and actually disturbed my sleep was Psycho, the original directed by Alfred Hitchcock. The scene at the end in the house was not what I was expecting. I happend to get lucky (or so I thought) that I was seeing a showing at an art cinema, so it was a big screen, needless to say I jumped out of my seat literally, I was just not ready for the impact of the scene.

Recent I watched one, I cant remember the title but it was short in the Amazon with red indians as actors-am not that young, but the scenes in the movie still scares me today. People were captured from the forests and taken to the king for beheading. One by one the captives heads were chopped as the king smiled-thousand wer killed for pleasure-but one young and handsome one caused the sun to blacken just as the killers raised their matchettes to chop of his head. Then they decided that they should be speared and killed as they are made to run in open ground. everybody was killed except the one young man who caused the sun to blacken. He was chased, but one by one he killed all his pursuers. He was in time to re-unite with his lovely wife, son and a new born son she bore alone in a flooded pit. Infact it was he who pulled her out the wife from the flooded pit. It was an amazing movie.

Hello academic2!(",)
The movie you are talking about is entitled "Apocalypto". It's my favorite movie and I did watched it 4 times already. Even if I just read the subtitle throughout the movie because the actors are speaking in their native tongue, it still worth the watching for.
Thanks for responding! By the way, I just watched a horror movie last night entitled "The Ghost Inside". It's a Chinese movie. It was a bit scary.

tht would be the ring!!
The Ring is a 2002 American remake of the 1998 Japanese horror film, Ring (which was also known as Ringu). It was directed by Gore Verbinski and starred Naomi Watts and Martin Henderson. This movie was number 20 on the cable channel Bravo's list of the 100 Scariest Movie Moments.

the japanese version of the ring series. it still scares me up to this day. it was much better than the hollywood version. the japanese version's approach doesn't employ any music, just your classic all acting scenes, then without you expecting it, the scary happens, with a really loud sharp eerie sound...

Not so much the scariest film, but more the scariest moment in a film. I haven't seen an entire film that scared me that much.
The moment in question was in John Carpenter's remake of 'The Thing' - there was only three or four of them left and they had all given a blood sample. So there he was (Kurt Rusell of course) in all his menacing glory sitting down with a hot wire in his hand ready to dip each sample of blood . . . and one sample did respond, and I actually jumped.
I was only a kid at the time, but it was a geat moment. I haven't actually thought about that for a long, long time. Thanks! ;-)
