Why few people suffer from Deep vein thrombosis?

Deep vein thrombosis is the result of three principal factors : *Reduced or stagnant blood flow in deep veins (venous stasis). *Injury to the blood vessel wall. *An increase in the activity of those substances in the blood that are part of the normal clotting mechanism, a condition called hypercoagulability (which means a more active clotting state). #Number of factors can bring about these conditions...... *Prolonged immobilization (such as sitting in a chair with legs hanging down withot resting them on to some thing,sitting for long periods (4 hours or more) reduces irculation in legs by 50 percent.It increases the risk of DVT. *Having undergone a surgical procedure *Increasing age *Malignancy (cancerous tumor) *Heart failure *Pregnancy *The use of oral contraceptives

Lack of movement can cause blood clots. If you stay in the same position, especially legs not moving, blood will not be flowing well. But some people who have blood clotting porblems, can also get clots despite their moving about (my case). But either way, you should really avoid being motionless for long periods of time. Even average, healthy people could then get blood clots.

My mom too suffered from this problem. She is a lecturer in the college and she is language faculty, so she doesn't have to stand, she remains in the chair for all the classes, may be she too suffered because of the sitting for lone time in the chair with the legs hanging down with no support.
