I dont know if it is possible to plan out an entire dream, but it is certainly possible to influence it a little. If you are thinking about something when you go to sleep, you are more likely to dream about it. Or for instance if you have a rose scented sachet in your pillowcase, you might dream about being in a rose garden.

thanks, yeah, sometimes, whatever the last thing you were thinking before you go to bed, often than not you're going to dream about it.

Yes I think you influence your dreams quite a bit. For instance one of my favorite relaxation techniques for falling asleep is to get comfortable block out all thoughts and take myself someplace nice, safe some type of fantasy. More often than not I will dream about that person I was talking to or the place I was. I do not think we can totally manipulate the entire dream cycle. Sometimes my "fantasy" will turn ugly or nightmarish.

it works for some people but never really for me. the only thing that i did dream about that was sorta planned before was through a psychology experiment in high school.
we had to stare at this picture that was handed out for 20 min before we slept. the picture was of these rocks and things and it made me dream about this airplane that was hovering, not going anywhere just hovering.
the next day we went to class and found out that thats what the picture was supposed to make us dream about. some sort of hovering or floating object. it was pretty freaky and cool
