Have your ever been screwed over by a bidder on your online auctions? 1 of my examples is, I was offering a laptop up for bid and on the last day it got tons of action and the winning bidder turned out to be a scam artist. It turned out ok in the end only because a friend alerted me to the bogus PayPal email. Does anyone have a simular story?

The only time I even had trouble on an auction was when a woman claimed that a bracelet I sent her had a stone missing, and it was the last one of that kind that I had on hand. I replaced it with her choice of another one that was several dollars higher.
I put her name on my list of people that couldn't bid on my auctions in the future. I am pretty sure she lied about the missing stone, because I always check the merchandise before I mail it and the bracelet was in a sealed plastic envelope so even if a stone did come loose, it would have been in the envelope.
I'm glad yours turned out okay.

Sorry to hear yours didn't turn out that well. Did you offer her to send it back to you for a refund. But than she would of had to damage it so that really doesn't make sense does it. Anyway, if she lied, she will get it in the end. What she gives is what she gets. Thanks for your response.

wow, no. I am new to ebay, but have had only smooth sales. Thanks for the posting this topic though. I never thought they(scamers) would be able to do this.

I glad you found this topic helpful, be careful because I was totally blown away by how prefessional the email from the scammer looked like that was made to look like it came from paypal. But I had a friend point out that PayPal will never ask you to send the item sold before PayPal will release the funds. So I investigated by calling Paypal and sure enough it was a scam. And it happened exactly the same way to me a second time, but NOW I'm wise to it. I believe it probably only happens with higher ticket items. But becareful.
