Have you ever been in an abusive relationship?

I have been in two abusive relationships. In my first I dealt with all the classifications of abuse and the second I was smart enough to get out of before it got physical. Thanks to my family I was succesful in getting out. However now that I feel that I have moved past that and think about dating again, I realize that I have a large trust issue. Partially with myself in thinking that I will continue the pattern and pick the wrong guy and get be in another abusive relationship and lack of trust that men know how to treat woman right. I am aware that woman can be abusive to so this is a question for everyone. How did you get out of the relationship and how did you get past the issues that come along with it.
