According to me, Brian lara is the best test player than sachin..... for his records speak for himself, be it breaking the world record of max runs by abatsman two times, most runs in test cricket history... etc.. Lara in tests 9 on a scale of 10. Lara in one dayers 7 on a scale of 10. On the other hand, Tendulkar is a master oneday player an no one can deny that at present he is the no 1 for the one day version of the game. Sachin in tests 6 on a scale of 10 Sachin in omne dayers 9 on a scale of 10 Kindly post ur comments...

Sachin is the best for me no doubt ... pls check the test records for lara and sachin Sachin Averages 54.70 in 217 innings with 35 hundreds highest scores 248* (dont forget 196* against pakistan) - currently at 10668 runs - (Sachin has to make 1285 runs in 20 innings at an average of 60.80 ... which is doable for his calibre) Lara averages 52.88 in 242 innings with 34 hundreds highest score 400 - currently at 11953 runs Sachin 195 innings 22 times not out 10000 runs highest 248* at the average of 57.80 Lara 195 innings 6 times not out 10000 runs - highest 400* at the average of 53.19 Compare their averages on home and away too please Sachin Home average - 55.24 and away average - 54.25 Lara Home average - 58.65 and away average - 47.80

One more thing to be considered here is that Westindies has played 436 test matches and won 149 times with a winning ratio of 52% out of which lara has only contributed 32 times i.e 32/149 times ... only 21% of the time he has lead his team to a victory India has played 403 test matches and won only 89 times with a winning ratio of mere 40% for India Sachin has contributed 42 times i.e, 42/89 times ... 50% of the time he has lead india to a victory ______________________________________ I dont want to start this thing for ODI ..... Sachin is uncomparable ... LARA is a Great Player but Sachin is the Greatest anyone can be ... SACHIN is a living legend _______________________________________________ source: http://stats.cricinfo.com/guru? put lara and compare him with sachin ...u'll see who's great and why

but Lara's record speaks for himself.... although his teammates have been strugglin' to come to terms with international matches, Larais the only hope for windies...... But Sachin is playing in a team full of established cricketerslike Dravid, Ganguly.... etc........

I think Sachin is the best ODI batsmen in cricketing world but Lara too is having a wonderful test record under his belt. On a scale of 1-10 , i will give sachin a 9+ while lara a 7+ . Seeing the overall record.. Sachin Is the best and there's no doubt about that.

Sachin is only a great one day player. he has no teperment to play long test innings, which is only real test of stamina, courage etc... hence Lara accordin' to me is the greatest test player.

Lara is very good test player where as Sachin is good in one -dayers. Lara holds the second position for the maximum no. of double centuries in test cricket after Don Bradman. Besides I've never seen Sachin play long innings in test cricket.

I think Lara is Best batsman to face a spinner and sachin is better for fast bowlers, I think this is the main difference between them, Lara played more marathon innings in tests aswell as in firstclass cricket by scorring 501, 400 and 375, where as sachin scored 76 hundreds in both forms of internationnal cricket till now, I think there is not much a big difference between the two

i hope u have not watched lara play against fast bowlers..... u should always recall the battle he had with Glen Mc Grath durin' the 2003 home series...

according to me both r class players in different forms of games..lara is the best in test..no one can even come close to wt he has achieved in test cricket. and bout sachin he is the best in one dayers..he has the highest no. of centuries ,with nearly 15000 in his career..he is the main pillar of the indian team. we should be happy that two great players are players at the same time and we get the pleasure of watching em play.

merely making triple hundreds or double hundreds dont count if it does not contribute to a country win Sachin may not have not many a triple 100 to his name but he has more wins for the country contributing for the country

Lara is exceptional when it comes to Test Cricket. He has 9 double centuries, second only to Sir Don Bradman. And who can forget that he has scores of 350+ twice and even 400 runs which still is the world record. Somehow in the ODI's he is not as prolific as in tests. Guess thats not his style. But i have seen him turn around many ODI's just like that As for Sachin its the other way around. Prolific in ODI's but a bit lacking in tests. Sachin does not have too many hige scores in tests. Something that has to be noted So both are great batsmen of our time.

My rating Brian Lara in test matches 9/10 Brian Lara in ODI matches 8/10 Sachin in test matches 7/10 Sachin in ODI matches 9/10 Certainly Sachin is very good Batsman, but i don't like his style, I like Dravid the most. The main difference between them is that the Dravid always plays for his team but Sachin plays only for himself.

They are both great batsmen the world of cricket is lucky to have. For me it's Lara. Skill is one thing, but to do so well when your team is losing more than they are winning is amazing. He could have thrown it all away years ago, it must be difficult to play the lone hand so many times. I wish we could have seen him as part of the great WI sides of the 80's, he would have performed even better if the team around him was performing.

I agree with u for test cri LARA is the best no one can beat him as he has 9 double century a couple of 400's n thats make him the KING of test even though SIR DON BRADMAN have 12 double centuries the time when SIR plays n when the LARA is playing clears who rules.but in one day SACHIN is the best here LARA is behind in terms of highest total runs, more number of centuries.

well i agree for that lara and sachin are the best, and u were absolutely rite in grading them in different versions of the game, lara indeed is the best test player and sachin in one days is superb, but i wud like to take ut attention to POnting, accdng to me he is the best one day playeras for his performances are rally superb even under pressure situations and one shud not forget that he is been captaining the side succesfully with maintaining his personal record, which was not seen with sachin when he was captain,,,,,,,,, cheers
