Marty Schottenheimer was fired today after having a head strong battle with the General Manager of the team. Marty was 14 and 2 this year, which includes four games in which his star defensive player was out on suspension. He did lose his first game in the playoffs, and hasn't won a playoff game in years, however; is this fair? Should Marty still be coaching the Chargers? Was his assistance all taking new jobs handwritng on the wall? What are your thoughts?

For some reason the owner and the G.M. wanted Marty out.I heard that Marty and the owner were bumping heads over things back in the pre season. If Marty had won, he would have been still the coach. The G.M. is using the assistances leaving and the playoff loss as an excuse to do what he wanted tomdo all along, fire Marty. Is this fair? No, but Marty is a good coach so if he wants to , he'll coach again.

Marty may very well go down in NFL history as the Dan Marino of coaches, great during the regular season and best stats on the planet, but when the playoffs roll around, in the toilet we go. And that is sad too because Marty is truely one of the greatest coaches to ever coach. His impact on the game and it's history are going to be forever compromised by his failures in the playoffs, until he wins the big one. Two things kept the Chargers out of the AFC Championship game. The first was when Marlon McCree intercepted Brady and then fumbled the ball right back after being stripped by Troy Brown. The second was Schottenheimer challenging the play and losing a precious time out that would have possible at least allowed the Chargers to tie the game if not out right win the game before time ran out.
