I'm glad the airline choose to move the man to the better seat! i would have stood up and apploded too. What a crass woman. I hope people threw spitballs in her hair! lol.

I think what i see is that you could be racist against white people. No i am not white and i can see with my heart pretty good. Take care.

Dear friend it is a sad story we cant do much about it i wish i could eradicate all whites.The problem always starts with whites i have never come across anybody of other race not willing to sit next to white.Very sad on the patr of whites.

I read that and got chills and goosebumps all over. I applaud the captain and the flight attendant too, assuming that the story was real! It's cool that there are people out there who are willing to step up to curb racism in any little way that they can! Great post, mate! Keep it up!

This is horrible, but what's more horrible is that they let the guy go to first class just because he's black, isn't that defeating the whole purpose of equal rights? I think everyone on the plane should have to deal with that lady, the same way everyone deals with a baby on a plane who keeps crying. And the organization for the Advancement of Colored people, not sure what it's called, is THE MOST RACIST THING ON THE PLANET, perhaps. Why the hell should black or hispanic or whatever the race is get special treatment because of their color? OR extra help for that matter, does that not imply that they NEED extra help? I think that's way more racist that what happened. And what about BET? What if there was a WET(white entertainment television)? that would be labelled as racist right off the bat. What do ya'll think, eh?

LOL I've seen this before but it does make me chuckle whenever I read it. Well done that airline. Racism is not good wherever it takes place. I am an Indian born and raised in the UK. Some people are under the misapprehension that only white people can be racist. This is certainly not the case. I have known Indian people who've said to me "How can you work for white people?" Wow what a sweeping and racist comment to make! Well I've worked for an Indian Muslim boss (who came here from India and set up a business which incidentally went bust) and he was the worst boss I've ever had. He thought he could get away with paying really bad salaries to junior staff and wondered why we couldn't get anyone to join the company or stay with us. He criticised white people all the time and said they were low class (wow putting everyone in his own basket there too) - this is a guy who had the bank manager coming around to his house for a meeting and didn't even bother to put shoes and socks on - I was present and was never so embarrassed. The bank manager was not impressed and not surprisingly didn't grant my boss the additional loan he was after. This boss also referred to us, his staff as "servants" when he spoke with his relatives in India saying he had "stupid Indians, white people and black people" working as his servants here! That's just an example of someone who had no idea of how to behave. When I left that company and went to work for my next company I was reminded what it was like to actually work for decent employers who didn't make derogatory comments about the staff no matter what colour or race they are. There is no place in today's society for racism. Those that practice it need a swift kick up the rear end and a reminder that life is too short to be hung up on things like that! Live and let live.

The only possible way to get rid of this is by discriminating the whites and the so called "western" people. Why should the dark skinned people feel inferior?- Both whites and blacks have to die someday, both suffer the same health problems and both have the same physiological needs? Then in what way are the blacks inferior to whites? So the next time if a white sits next to a black - the black should call the air hostess and complain about the white sitting near him. Mind you, without the dark skinned people, even the US cannot progress further. So my dear racist whites ( only a few are racists) - you either change your attitude or else be prepared to get discriminated by the blacks in the future.

I have gotten this in an e-mail before and I thought it was pretty cool. I think it is a good thing that the airline actually upgraded the black man rather than the bigoted white woman. I am a white man that has dealt with a lot of racism it is just wrong weather it comes from wite, red, black, prple, blue, or what ever!! RAcism is just wrong where ever it comes from and whomever it is directed to. Thank you for posting this interesting discussion and have a great day!!

The old woman can no longer be expected to change her attitutde towards racism because it must have gone ingrained in her. However, the captain's decision said it all to effect some discipline in her. It is one of the best decisions I have ever heard carried out.

well firstly i feel its totally impractical and non sense for people to discriminate on the basis of skin color -white n black because scientifically speaking black people have more melanin in their body dats what makes their complexion dark and deficiency of it makes the other race white and also being black or white depends on the geographical locations whre u belong i mean the amnt of sunrays that reach you because more n more exposure to it makes you darker and this continues till ages and the entire human race in that location or part of the world becomes dark.So basically what the white race people needs to understand is that they deficeincy in the melanin content and sunlight makes them whiter and hence do not discriminate peolple on the basis of skin color.
