Annoying..My computer always shutdown itself every half an hour

My computer shutdown itself every half an hour, or quite sometimes, and become so slow, and my anti-virus not continue running, the anti-virus shutdown itself at the middle of its running, DOes anybody have an idea, i suspect that i have a virus lurking on my pc, and i can't afford to format it, because it would be waste of time, and re installed all the softwares, i'm tryin to salvage in anyway i can, and get rid if there is a virus, Does anybody experience such, and what did you guys did to prevent it, please help...

Hi. Get on the internet and look for sites like help on the net or webuser forums or lavasoft support forums and tell them about your problem. I found Lavasoft to be very helpfull. Please read the instructions carefully.

Thank you spoonthumb, i appreciate your response in my queries, I did try but to no avail, i'll just keep on looking, i was just thinking that this is new virus, probably some people are encountering this recently, because i just experience this just days ago, So maybe some techies who is quick to find out new virus will help, thats why i brought the problem here in mylot. You know its not only in me. It happens to some people I know just recently

Dude,i can't afford to format it, it has several software installed, and too much drivers, time consuming, is there any other way i could to to salvage it aside from formatting, that would be my last resort though, but at least if anyone could give an immediate suggestion, those whom experience such problem.

Install microsoft servicepack II it will help you. After installing service pack ii if u still find the same problem then it may be virus attack. So try service pack 2 and all the best.

My platform is W2k, still i like the reliability of w2k, its been 3 years i didnt format my pc, because of some important drivers, and special intallation of some software installed on it, you and i think i have installed the service pack 2 you are saying..
