In the UK we have a special Sunday where we honour our Fathers and make a fuss of them, buying a card and gift. It sort of grew up because there has been a long tradition of having a special Sunday for Mothers and somebody thought they would do the same for Fathers.
Do you celebrate Father's Day, and how do you make your Father feel special?

hi, I usually buy my dad a card and prezzie, Shrek gets a card from the boys and a prezzie. Last year the boys painted a plate at a pottey placve with their handprints on it and Bong wrote Daddy, he drew a caterpillar on the back too. The lady glazed it and it lives in the kitchen stood up on the top of the wall cabinet, he loved it, don't know what to do this year yet.
There's grandparent days too now, lol.

Ah, Grandparents day too, that is nice. I think that gifts such as the plates with handprints are so very special and they must have bought a lump to the throat when he opened that!

He didn't seem that bothered to be honest so this year he got 2 cans of lager and a take-away.
hee-hee at least then we all get to share the food.
He actually got the cards and presents for both our dads too, first time ever, must have been guilt whne we didn't make a fuss.

That is the underlying value of all these celebrations. I know that in the final analysis they are actually cynical ploys to part us with money for cards and gifts, but they do have the useful effect of giving us a reminder of the support, help and love we receive from our families every day, and help us to make sure they know just how much we care. It doesn't take much, either, does it?
As to two cans of lager, well they helped the relaxation process quite a bit too, yes?
