I always see cats as gentle creatures and the only time I find them agressive is when they protect their youngs agaist other cats or animals in the house. That being said, there are isolated cases where cats suddenly displays abnormal behaviors. I remember watching it on tv where a cat started scratching it's masters face that was so badly bruised and needed to be taken to a nearby hospital.
By and large, it's not very often we see cats being agressive.

I think it depends on the upbringing of the cats. It is like teaching the kids..You have to learn to discipline your cats as well or any other pet you have in particular.

I don't think so. My cat is 10 and he is much more laid back than when he was 1 or 2 years old. However, if it is a male cat and not neutered, they will be more aggressive and territorial as they mature.
Some cats also don't like change and get sort of stuck in their ways, so they get grumpy around new people/animals, or when their routine is thrown off.

I'm not sure, but I do have a female who is 5 years old and now she just mean. She hisses at any other animal she sees and doesn't really care to be affectionate. I would also like to know the answer to your post.
