My top places would be New Zealand, Norway and Japan. Each country offers something unique. New Zealand I've been there a lot of times and I'm enchanted by it's natural beauty. Norway is my girlfriend's country, I also like it's beauty. Japan, the techie capital of the world.

Hello there. My husband and I would love to move to Odessa, Ukraine. He was born and raised there. We took our kids there this summer and I loved it. It is fairly cheap to live there and people are extremely nice.

Good luck learning spanish. You should also brush up on your defensive driving...especially if you plan to drive on the roads in Costa Rica. It is a beautiful place but you have to be very careful on the roads. I think it would be pretty great to live there, but I would miss my family too much. You can get a start on learning spanish at the bbc dot co dot uk site which has some basic phrases you can learn for each "situation" you might need to converse about. You should check it out under learning languages...or something like that.
If I could live anywhere, I don't know if I'd choose Costa Rica though...I don't think I have been to enough places to decide for sure where I would want to live. Ultimately affordable living would be at the top of my list of desirable traits in the place I would want to live, but there are other factors to consider, such as crime, and the environment: political and social etc and how comfortable I feel with the infrastructure. But Costa Rica does have a lot going for it, I believe, so it would probably be in my top 10 or top 5.
