I always turn off my phone during meetings since my phone is still loud even when it vibrates in my cell phone holster. Everyone can hear it vibrate so it is better for me to turn it off while in a meeting, church, movies or other place that requires silence. I think it is rude to leave the phone in ringing mode during a meeting. Vibrate is okay during a meeting.

I always keep my phone while I am in a meeting or i am watching a movie because it is really embarassed when all people suddenly looks at you, so i keep it in silen mode most of the times. i also didn't like when I am watching a movie and someone other's phone rings and he started talking in the theatre itself and when in a meeting we are disscussiing something important and people leave the room as their phone rings.

I generally put it on silent, I dont like the vibrate function when Im in a meeting cause I dont want any reason to e looking at my phone and if it vibrates I would be tempted to check it, I leave it on silent though so when Im out of the meetig I can check to see who called and call them back

when I'm still working at other company, I usually just vibrate my phone cell, I never turn off my cell phone, thats all I can do, I don't care weather they want to kick me out from the meeting or somethin other (fire me?), since when I work that time just for make an experiment and just for fun, making a new friends, right now I'm work at my own, just a little works, so I never have a meeting.

I too always put my handphone on vibration mode, but only during internal meetings. This is because all phone calls from my clients are very important. So i have to answer important calls. That shouldn't be a problem to my boss because he knows that it is my responsibility to do so. Else, i'd put the mobile phone on a silent mode.

I put mine on vibrate. I think its just plain rude to not put it on silent. I hate it when phones go off during meetings, concerts, or masses.

Coz it's really disturbing when someone's phone rings in the middle of the meeting. It disrupts the concentration of the attendees. ^__^

It is out of etiquette that one should be attentive to a meeting. If that's official meeting, it would be compulsory to do turn the phone on silent mode. If it's a casual meeting, it is okay to leave it in normal mode unless you want to make a good deal to a client. In this case, you should pay attention or else you the client will be peeved with your unprofessional attitude.

I generally turn my phone off when I am in a meeting, but if I need it on for some reason it'll be set on vibrate. I set it on vibrate when I go to work also.

Yes, I do !
Because if feels irritated when somebody else's phone rings in the middle of the meeting, So we should not do the same?
Also to add, according to Murfy's law, such calls will come at the crusial point of meeting itself !! :D

When i am in a meeting, class, or really busy with other people, i turn my cell phone on vibrate. That way it won't be noisy, and it won't be load to cause a problem.
