I have been using cable internet facility (500 kbps) mainly for surfing/ browsing and occasionally downloading small files for the last one year and a half. My daily usage, as reported by the internet service provider, used to be about 20 to 25 MB. Suddenly, since the last 2 months or so, my daily usage, as reported by the internet service provider, has shot up to about 80 to 120 MB. It may be noted that my usage pattern and the extent of usage have remained more or less the same. Someone suspected a virus but no virus has been detected. The internet service people say that everything is OK from their side and that the reported usage is correct. Can you tell me what could be wrong and how to take care of the problem. It has become very expensive to use the internet now. Please suggest remedy, if you know any.
