If you take a look at the television lineup today, you see a number of reality shows, off the wall comedies and crime and medical dramas. The family sitcoms or family dramas seem to be a thing of the past. During my elementary years,
my favorite family show was the 70's show "Eight is Enough". I have always been fascinated by large families and I loved show because it was funny and the kids were all so different in personalities and interest.
The show was sometimes serious but always funny.
Looking back from the earliest days of television, there were many shows that reflected the lives of the american family. Which television families did you enjoy watching the most...the Waltons?,the Brady Bunch? the Andersons from Father Know's Best?,The Cosby's the Keaton's from Familiy ties or the Simpson's? Which family is your favorite and why?

the simpsons top my list any time of the day.i can even watch the reruns with the same enthusiasm and relish as when the episode first aired! the show is simply too good and always manages to bring a smile on my face.well more than just a smile i must say...for i usually end up grinning and laughing like a fool while my family members wonder what the hell is wrong with this kid now! the heady mix of subtelty,in your face crassness, the cliches which look ripe fresh, the catchy catchphrases, the underlying messages...it is all too good. no wonder the show is the longest running show in television history. this is one timeless, four fingered family that we will never cease loving!

I love watching "SEVENTH HEAVEN". Family values and keeping relationships within the family members is the top priority of that show. Specially how parents handle their kids, on how they guide their lives. The messages of the show evey episodes teaches us how are we going to manage if some certain situation arises.

In recent years, Seventh Heaven is one show that I enjoyed watching. I love that they are portraying a family of faith and embracing family values. It is refreshing to see the messages they present on television.

I have a lot of family shows that I loved very much but would have to say that Different Strokes was my favorite with Arnold, Kimberly, Willis and Mr. Drummond. This family was hilarious, especially Arnold. I miss this show very much. I also enjoyed Married With Children, Family Ties and the Brady Bunch. They all had a lot of humor in them and loved watching all these shows because I knew I would get a good laugh in.

The Waltons would be my all time favorite family, I still watch reruns nearly everyday and no matter how many times I've seen the shows they still touch me. The family endured a lot of hardships, had some battles among themselves (like real families), and still managed to hold on to their faith and family. Plus the charactor of John Boy is an inspiration for me as I've always wanted to write and he had such a gift for it.

The Waltons are also a sentimental favorite of mine as well. I loved the John Boy character as well and for the same reason..I wanted to be a writer when I was in elemntary school.

You forgot my favorite all time family - The Bunkers - my father is just like Archie and my mother just like Edith, it is amazing over the years how many people have said that to me after spending some time with my parents.
My father just isn't quite as funny.
