The obesity epidemic in America

At the risk of sounding petulant and hateful, the fact that 1 in 3 Americans are obese right now is really pathetic. We live in a country where we are free to excersize any constitutional right that we please, but no one is willing to get off of their behind to actually excersize.
The argument that 'people are too busy' doesn't hold water either. The age that we live in is one of convenience, so if people can't find time to manage their own health, it's simply a sign of stupidity.
Of course, there are people with medical conditions can cause legitimate weight gain. While some of these are of no fault to the patient, many obese individuals have caused the problem themselves, adding to health insurance costs for everyone, even those who take care of themselves.
