What do you think of download accelerators

Do you think programs like free download accelerator actually increase the download speeds. My experience is that they dont really increase the download speeds by much. Another thing I have seen is that when you download files by Opera browser, it is downloaded in much lesser time than Firefox or IE with or without the download accelerators. Do anyone of you have a similar or different experience

Download acclerators do increase the speed to some extent if it's of free version but the premium version enhances the speed sigificantly ..Use of DAP is more prominant while downloading large files..And also DAP has the facility of resuming the download from the last downloaded point...Its a big advantage..

this some thing what you say , nothing more than a program i don't think so it will accelerate much more speed .Because we all gettem a limited bandwidth and wont get more than that then how canit do such a acceleration ,butgood in using traffic

i think they do, it accelerates the downloading. But there are always some sites or files that are not allowed to be accelerated, so thats maybe one of the biggest problems the download accelerators have. I think that download accelerator is usefull for me because it downloads fast and easily some medium files i want to download. But they are not that used as the other download programs that are on the web, like emule, kazaa, imesh, etc, etc. at the end it depends on every person's choice.
