What is happening?

I have just realized that my star is now a 9 when it has been a 10 since the stars began.
I know this has been heard many, many times but I am not here to complain about my number dropping as I could care less if they took it all togather but I am confused as to why.
I have been here for a couple of months now and I only post QUALITY, I do not respond to unsubstantial discussions, (on the rare occaision I do it is a quality response), I try not to offend, I have received several BEST RESPONSES, I follow the rules of myLot, I rate every response to my discussions, I am a pleasant conversationalist, etc... I thought these were the factors to the star system?!?
So what is the deal? Did I offend someone that is malicously minusing mee? Have I done something wrong that I have not received a single warning for? Please tell mee what you know about this rating system. What do you think?!?

You know...I would like to know that myself!!!!
I guess I upset someone also because in two days, my star went from a 10 to a low 8!!! In two days!!! I still post quality responses. Sure, I do not always agree with people. But I do my best to be not offensive. And since I have been here for 4 months, I have put in a lot of time and effort into myLot! So, I think the star reputation is a very poor system and wish they would take it away.
I even messaged myLot about this saying that it was insane that someone could get made at me and then take my rating from a 98/100 down to 81/100 in just a matter of 2 days!!! And there was their response.....
There are checks built into the system so that one or just a few members cannot harm your rating. As long as you keep posting quality content your rating should rebound.
So, I guess we will see.
But if people do not stop to take the time to rate a person with a positive...then it will not rebound back up.
I understand my friend. I am there right with you too.

This type of sh** is just plain evil!! How can someone just go about and do this type of stuff. It you are posting poor responses or discussions that would be justified but I have never seen anything but quality from you. MyLot should look into anyone that hits the - button excessively and if it is uncalled for it should go back to them.
Thank you for the response and have a great day!!

That really can be a drag, especially on your part, dear. Knowing quite well that you do post only quality responses, maybe other people really are getting a kick out of rating some of those who post quality responses a negative one. On my part though, it wasn't that much of a mystery why my star rating dropped since I haven't logged-in for the past couple of days.

Maybe that is what is going on with me also. I have not been on as much lately since I am sicker than holy hell, god this crap is hitting mee hard. I guess we get penalized here at myLot for being sick or for having a life if this is the case.
Thank you for the response and have a great day!!

Thank you once again for the kind words. I do always try to post quality even when the quality of the origional post is lacking. I am thinking that it has to my activity level now as I am not as active as I was in the past. I am so busy any more and I am going to bed at a more decient time now so my time here at myLot is shrinking.
Thank you for the response and have a great day!!

I think its mylot's way of encouraging us to frequently log-in and join discussions, among others. But, in your case dear, I don't think you'll have to fret about it that much. Star or no star, you've clearly established yourself as one of those who do contribute quality discussions. Hope you'll feel better and have a great day!

I wish they would get rid of the stars. I don't know for sure but I think some people are going around rating people with negatives just to bring their star number down. I could be wrong but I don't think so. But you have a rating of 95/100 so you are just under a 10. I believe you have to have at least a 96/100. If you don't know what I mean, put your pointer on your star.

I have heard that said several times, that people are purposely negative rating people to drop their rank. That is just wrong and should not be allowed. The only time I give anyone a negative rating is when they violate myLot rules other than that I give everyone a plus wheather they agree with mee or not.
Thank you for the post and have a great day!!

When i went offline for a few days my star dropped from a 9 to an 8. I think if you post quality on a daily basis it stays but if not it drops...at least in my case.

Just keep posting your quality discussions. Maybe someone is giving you negative ratings.

It has to do with your quality, but also to do with your activity level. When they first launched the star rating I was 98/100. In the weeks since I have slipped back to 96/100 and I am in the same boat as you, about to fall back to a level 9 star rating. Now it is my own fault for not getting on myLot and posting and rating enough responses.
Now that I will be back on a more regular basis I would hope to see the rating increase once again, or at least hold where it is now. What you might need are some good positive ratings too, I'm not sure how many people here are really rating responses to their discussions. I try to take one day per week and do that myself. Try commenting on some of your friends discussions and see if one of them will give you a + rating or two.

The star rating is based on what other people in Mylot rate you, so if someone is just plain old having a bad day, you might get marked negatively even when it is a quality response/discussion. It's something we just have to deal with on here. I myself mark everyone with a positive unless the response is something like, I dunno...or something extremely rude and totally off topic. As far as I know, this is the only thing that effects your star rating but there might be other factors involved.
