Can you explain, do people even "date" anymore?

Maybe I don't get it. I have been married for 23 years and have a daughter that is of dating age. It seems that they don't date or call it dating anymore. They are all just friends hanging out. If you don't date, how do you build a relationship?

i believe it is still dating...hanging out is same as dating. i think its just a way of having the label "dating" attached. it gives that sense of protection of not having any expectation but still the possibility of leading to something further.
