my husband came home the other day with a story he heard about on the radio. a person was threating to shoot himself in the head. the cops were called and began trying to stop him. they finally got him to put the gun down. then one cop said that he was glad that they did because if he didnt they would have had to kill him to stop him. that seemed stupid to me. i was wondering why it is illegal to kill you self? i think it is your body, and a personal decsion. why do cops have anything to do with it? i was just wondering!!

Yes, it is only your body, and it is a personal decision. But it is not a very good decision. because you see, you dont live alone in this world, there are family, friends and community. If you kill yourself, imagine how those people must be feeling, the hurt and pain. Afterall, there are better ways to cope with a problem, than just taking the easy way out of killing your self. And also by killing yourself, you also set up an example to small kids about what they can do should they ever face a problem, instead adults should give example of how to face the problem and get it over with. It is a very sad thing to kill yourself, because you are given a chance to live, but you dont want it, while there are others that need that chance to live, but unable to for them (those who are sicks etc).

I think it is illegal because most people who try and don't secceed are later thankful that they were stopped. Some people don't really want to kill their selves. It is a cry for help or a mental problem that can be treated.
