How did you deal with your child's vision problems? Did you undergo eye therapy?

I just learned a few months ago that my daughter has vision problems. She's perfect and functions like any normal 5 year old child, but when she started in preparatory grade, her teacher observed that she is having difficulty in copying lessons from the white board. She suggested that we have her eyes checked, and we were really shocked when the ophthalmologist told us that she has 300-900 grade on her left and right eyes. Apparently, the weaker eye, is a lazy eye. She was given prescription glasses, but I only let her wear it in school and while reading or watching TV. She plays and do other stuff normally without glasses and she never complains. I read about eye therapy/exercises but I'm not sure if it's available here in our country. Can you share with me your experiences and insight on this?
