my nieces have one in their room and i noticed everytime i visit, even while doing their homeworks, the tv is on. I don't think this is such a good idea. It's none of my business actually but then my son ask me the other day if he can have one too.

It wont hurt kids to have a tv in their rooms. People have said that tv makes you dumb, but I have had a tv in my room since I was 4 (and I am now 19). I graduated top 15% of my class and already know what I want to do in life (I've know since I was 5 and it has never changed) If anything having the tv helped me, when I was younger I watched cartoons and educational shows as I grew up (with a tv) I began to watch shows suitable for my age. Having a tv in your kids room is not a bad thing.

Our daughter got one when she was 2 and we are planning on getting my son one for his 2nd birthday. It is probably on too much but we like it, we still get out and play and are active, we just love TV too =)

well i agree, tv isn't such a bad thing. my only concern is, it's a distraction specially when it's time for homework and stuff right? i guess that's when i have to draw a line. thanks.

It's okay with me if there's a television in a kid's room. I'm not yet a parent but if I'll become one, it'll still be okay as long as my child passes all his/her subjects in school. When I was young, I also did the same thing; studying while the t.v. is on. It really depends on the person cause I also have some friends who do that and they still passed all their subjects. But if you're really against it but your son wants to have a television in his room just have an agreement with him or have a study time for him where he can't turn on the t.v. I think that's quite fair for the both of you. Good luck.

I think there's no problem, i had one, but my mom had some control over it, it does not have made my anything bad. :)
I had no nightmares, had a nice sleep, etc...
