Do you think this is fair? Will O.J. obey? How will anyone know if he is spendning money or not??LOS ANGELES - A state judge has ordered O.J. Simpson to stop spending money he received for his unpublished book, "If I Did It," about the slayings of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Gerald Rosenberg's ruling on Wednesday extended a restraining order issued last month barring Simpson from spending any earnings from past deals, including books, films and sports memorabilia.
The order, which was sought by Goldman's father, initially did not apply to the advance Simpson received from the book-and-TV deal for "If I Did It" because Fred Goldman had filed a federal lawsuit over the funds. However, the federal lawsuit was dismissed Jan. 24 by a judge in Los Angeles who said he had no jurisdiction over Simpson, who lives in Florida.
The ruling is the latest in a decade-long battle following a 1997 civil judgment against Simpson that held him liable for the deaths of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. Fred Goldman alleges Simpson is trying to avoid paying the $33.5 million judgment, which has ballooned to about $40 million with interest.
Simpson's book, which was spiked in November by the publisher, reportedly described how he theoretically would have killed Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman.
Cook said the Goldman family remains concerned Simpson is shopping another book deal.

Life is not fair at all, nor is the justice system. It saddens my heart that he got away with it because of that crooked cop. I have no idea how they can keep tabs on what he spends from that unpublished book. I think the families should receive any money received for that book when published, not him.

How could you enforce that ruling? And more importantly, how could you justify it? I don't get how you can just order someone to stop spending money that they are earning. And how could you justify not only telling him not to spend the money from the book, but from all past deals as well? It's his story he's trying to sell, so how can you justify stopping him?

I think that Simpson should be allowed to spend his money. The crime and the book are two different matters. But the book should not of course affect the decision of the court which has the rules of court to follow. The book should be published and it's up to the people if they buy it. Da Vinci Code and other books taken from the Holy Bible which consist of blasphemies against God are allowed to be published and circulated. Simpson should also be given freedom to publish and circulate his book, spend his money as he wish, and let him pay his obligations to the government, people, and to all whom he is obliged to pay including support for his children. I really believe that he should not be stopped publishing and circulating his book.

How strange, maybe the courts froze his checking accounts? I don't know how you can enforce that. Not that I don't think something should be done, the low life jerk, but this is just weird.

Well I think half the world watched on TV when the jury's decision was given ...
I can only comment what I think I saw on O J's face when the foreman of the jury stood up and said 'Not Guilty' .. it was relief and bewildered surprise .. the relief would be obvious from anyones point of view, guilty or not guilty .. but 'bewildered surprise' surely has to be the look of a guilty man knowing he has just got away scot free ... he was fast to 'readjust' his facial expression but not fast enough !
Pretty ridiculous writing a book in the first place .. but no one should make money from crime in this way ..

Personally I think the man has mental health issues. How could a person in their right mind commit the murders and I believe he did. And then have the nerve to write a book about how he would have done it if he had..No I don't think he really means "if he had" He means "if he could have done it the way he wanted to" sounds more like it to me. And on top of all that... what about his children.. don't they matter at all? How is it for them..does he care? I'm sure he'll get his just rewards someday.

I was living in Los Angeles when this crime happened and had a co-worker that was friends with Nicole and O.J. when they were married and she saw first hand out abusive O.J. was to Nicole and how jealous he was of her when they were divorced, I believe he did it and just had too much money to spend on the finest lawyers to get him off, too bad we will never know the truth.

OJ has had way more than his allocated 15 minutes of fame. I think he should just have to live out his days completely forgotten and in poverty. That could make up for the murder sentence he deserved but didn't get.

any bad thing that happens to OJ is fine with me.I think he murdered his wife and Goldman was at the wrong place and got it too.Nicole had been out to eat and left her glasses and goldman took them to her house, had he not done that OJ would have still killed Nicole. That OJ had been abusing Nicole for a very long time and finally just finished the job.The only reason he got off was because he had money and had the dream team.As you know he is not famous anymore.no one wants him on any of their TV shows, most everybody knows he is guilty as sin.I don,t blame Mr goldman for whatever he does...I don,t know if the Judge can stop OJ from spending that money he made from his book or not but he has no right to that money. That money should be used for his children, thats the least he could do for them since he deprived them of having a mother.OJ has had a lot of other girlfriends since he killed his wife and he has been abusive to all of them.Any woman would be foolish to have anything to do with him.Oh he has suffered alright, but he has never paid for those murders...

So he's that desperate now that he's spending money from a book that was never published, that more or less confirmed the entire world's suspicion that he was guilty of his wife's murder. There's no IF in his "I did it." He did it! I think the fact that he's profiting from murder is conviction enough for me. He should be behind bars.

personally i think all the money that he makes off his story should be given to the families as well as his kids. they are the true victims in this not him. i just dont understand how the judge can enforce the order unless he freezes all accts. and then there is still ways around using ur bank. if u think about it he can get the chks and still go and cash them. so the only way the judge could enforce this order is to stop the books and movies.

I think since he was acquited that all should leave it be. It is not left to us the public to keep on with this person. If he did something God will deal with him in his own time but we out here make him more important than he is by constantly talking about him. He has been tried and found not guilty so if he wants to spend his money whoes to say anyone has the right to speak out against him. If we in this country do not like the laws then we should elect officials who will write the laws in our interest not theirs. We elect people who do as they please and then we reelect them even though they lie and cheat and do as they please then the public complains and do it all over again. Yikes that is a question that needs to be addressed. But that is only my opinion.

I don't know how much O.J. got for his book deal, but he should at least pay some of the money that he owes. But as it seems, it will be like getting blood from a turnip. It's amazing to me that a person, who owes money through a judgement, can shirk his responsibility and not pay up.

I'm sure I will be in the minority here... But I must say what I feel.. Please do not bask me or give me negative ratings for my opinions.
I'm not sure OJ committed the crime-- What I'm sure is that OJ was tried in a criminal court (boy it was a long trial), and he was proven Not Guilty... He cannot be tried again for this crime. There was such a lack of evidence and things just didn't add up... Didn't help that a racist cop was a major part of the investigaton..
While I don't think OJ committed the crimes- I'm not saying he didn't have a hand in the crimes.. Hiring it done, etc. But he was proven not-guilty.. The court system failed the Browns & Goldman's.
He was proven liable in a civil court-- which makes little sense to me-- not criminally but civily. So the courts should have made him pay the fines. It was my understanding that anything NEW or work that OJ did would go to the Goldman's... Just not his retirement and money from the NFL. The book is NEW-- so any money he gets should go to them- I'm not sure why the court cannot just take the $$.

Well we don't know how it would be possible to keep track of O.J.'s spending. but i think he is right to order him not to spend that money. but i don't think they will be able to implement it.

Yes, I think the ruling is fair. However, there is no reason for OJ Simpson to obey legal action requiring him to disist his spending patterns. If that depraved pig could write a book about how he killed Nicole and Ron, what in God's name makes people think he was innocent to begin with? If he literally got away with murder, no court order is going to deter him from living large on his killings, so to speak.
This is what happens when ghetto/white trash have no more intestinal fortitude than to spend their lives trying to make themselves rich, and then when they get it, they move to California. In that filthy harem, most (not all) of the population is immigrants, idiotic celebrities, or worthless criminals, and the government is no better. Professional Athletes are not all money hungry maggots, but it happens more often than not. God Forbid OJ spent time helping others- maybe this world would be a better place to live!
