Morning pages might be good for some types of writers, but not for everyone. I did them for a while, but I get bored doing the same thing on a regular basis. And I really prefer to be doing other things in the morning. But I found that just free writing can sometimes get me going when I can't seem to get started. It starts nowhere, and usually winds up someplace interesting that I didn't expect. For me, the kind of writing I do here doesn't take any effort or imagination, so it's not really any help.
