60's flower children

i know about hippies and flower power but what were the non-hippies called ? everytime people talk about the 60's it's always hippies they are talking about..what were other people doing in the sixties? were they conservative? did they have any music??i've always been curious about that

The non-hippies were called "straights", this was pre the gay version of the word. They were mainly suburbanites, or boozers. They weren't into hippie music, more rock n roll, and it was a real case of separation. Some were a direct reaction against the hippie thing. You can still see people whining about hippies to this day, even if they've never actually met one.

They were the "normal" people. Lol. I think maybe a good word for them would be squares or the establishment. Police were called pigs. But if you asked a cop what pig stood for he would say pride integrity and guts.
