I think both are important. Online job searching is a great tool to improve the traditional way. It helps the applicant send his/her resume easier to the employer. The employers now can easily screen the applicants by looking through their qualifications from the sent resumes. This parst saves a lot of time, money and effort on both parties. Then we'll go back to the traditional way of course by interviewing the applicant to make sure that the information found in the resume is true or not.

I would think it depends on where you live, but it's a lot quicker, and applications online are pretty efficient.
Searching is the same grind with a search engine, you'd be advised to think about your keywords, and follow some of the categories.
