Today I heard that Bank of America is going to let 51 banks give Illegals a credit card and bank account with out an ID or Social Security Card.....
I'm outraged at this cause I had to show my Picture ID and Social Security Card when I went to get my bank account..Who's to say that they can launder money from this or use it to buy and sell drugs back and forth to Mexico or any other country.....
Then for them to say everything is above board makes a person wonder.....

Here is yet another example of how this country is catering to the illegals. Let's let the illegal aliens have a credit card so that they can charge up to the limit and then disappear to another unknown address! Makes a lot of sense to me! And a bank account? How ridiculous! You're right, that only makes it easier for them to be involved in other illegal activities. I'm so sick of hearing people say "they come here and work so hard; they obey the laws and are not involved in anything illegal...". My opinion is that if they broke the law in the first place to get to the U.S., they would not hesitate to break any other laws. They are here because they are greedy for money, so I'm sure that many are in fact involved with other illegal activities. We just don't know the extent of it because we don't even know who is in this country anymore! One last rant- When I go to the bank, I have to have my photo ID on file. They say that this is because of the Patriots Act. How can the Bank of America get around this?

Oh boy, did this blog remind me of an experience I had the other week. I was in a Bank of America in the Los Angeles area.. and yes in the United States of America.. I was very distressed when I looked around and all of the signs were in Spanish!!!! I did ask the bank manager if he would be kind enough to translate some of the signs for me, especially the display in the center of the bank that had to do with Real Estate issues/I recognized the dollar sign as well as the percentage sign... and of course the numerals.. but it was all written in Spanish, without the any translation!! The bank manager had no idea as to why I was disturbed and needed any assistance reading the information above. I dont remember taking a plane to this B of A branch.. the neighborhood was not a predominantly hispanic neighborhood!! Doesnt any one Spreken de ENGLISH in america anymore??

Your not the only one outraged at what Bank of America is planning on doing. Congress is also outraged about this and is wondering what are they thinking..Sure they have some rules on it like they must bank with them for 3 months and then they can put a deposit which will sit in the bank for the Credit Card. But we all know once you start to use it they will raise the charge limit and then I'm sure they won't see the money. I sure hope Congress does some checking into this, as I know it is hard to get a credit card and now they are making so easy for them to get it. Gee what else can we give to them on a Golden Platter...

In understand your concern. These people will still be registered under a system called check systems. Large sums and transactions will be carefully monitored and reported to the DEA. Even though the bank asks for your SS# and ID it is to make sure that you are really you.
These people also have no protection because if something happens to their money, they cannot report it stolen or lay claim to it becaus ethey have no identity documents. However, if you are robbed or lost your card or account info, because you carry identity documents you will be able to have these items replaced. They are opening these accounts but it is at their own risk as well.

You don't seem to get the point these people have broken the law by being here illegally in the frist place.......Then they buy false documents..which is a felony.......so that's another law they broke....Now Bank of America wants to reward them with a back account and a credit card.....Oh by the way there is a way to get around reporting large sums of money also......You just don't get the point that they need to go back to their country and come in the right way........I don't feel sorry for anyone who can't follow rules....AND they don't follow rules.....Or they wouldn't be here in the frist place.

Actually, you have never HAD to show a Social security card to your bank unless you were an employee. The SSN (or SIN in Canada) are simply there as a GOVERNMENT registration number for tax purposes. With you SSN, the Bank, and any other company, can get into your tax records and find out all kinds of things they shouldn't know. You shouldn't even be asked for anything more than proof of name, since you are giving them YOUR money to look after. Last time someone asked for my SIN, I asked for theirs right back.

Your sadly mistake about not showing social security card when you open a bank account in the United States....How do you think they report earning to the government when you have a saving account with money in it......They need your social security card.....That's how they know who is laundrying money.......Or moving large sums of money from one place to the other.
