taken place? The other day, my friend and I overheard her neighbor discussing a what sounded like a crime that he had involved himself in. However, I we didn't hear any specifics other than some cryptic information but without a doubt, it was about something shady he had been involved in.

I would keep my nose out unless its something that could effect you directly.
but if the police come asking then tell them what you know but other than it would probably be ignored anyway

If you report him you have to have specifics. The cops won't do anything because they don't have a probable cause to do anything and it would have to be a grave situation for them anyway. You can make an annonynous call and make things up for them to investigate. My bf did that and when the detective called him to tell him the results our suspicions turned out to be true. But that's what you'll have to do. I wouldn't do that though If I wasn't 100% sure!
