well it seems like that its me who had pointed out this point. cos i also had been discussing same at home that india wouldbe better if mongia or kaif wud have been taken. i feel sorry for karthick cos he is in team for no good. neither he is a batsman nor he is good feilder nor a good fielder(comparing to kaif n mongia) and cant even be handy with bowling (mongia is handy here also)and please dont call him a wicketkeeper he isnt a keeper at all. i m lot better so next time take me. now abt ramesh powar even i feel sorry for him being left out cos he was really performing well and is also not a mug with bat. i agree that kumble isnt a feilder and isnt a batter and looks like a liability but he has records speaking for him and at same his experienc will come handy and he on his day is a proven match winner and thanks to carrebians they have made pitches specially for kumble

Hi, I would like to bring the following for your kind attention. Kumble is definitely a better bowler than powar. And he is a useful bat in the lower order in supporting the other player like dhoni in crunch situations. Even in the rajkot match, he confidently blocked and even played a good quality cricketing shot square off the wicket. He sacrificed his wicket intelligently for dhoni's sake. Dinesh karthik, with his limited experience, has time and again proved his worth in both forms of the game if you see his performances here and abroad. He's mentally tough and plays intelligent cricket which is the need of the hour. He got a fantastic ball from lasith malinga but for which he would have closed the game in our favour partnering with dhoni in rajkot. And remember, their's is the second highest partnership after ganguly and tendulkar in that match. Uthappa seems to be the right choice to partner ganguly. As for wicket keeping with uthappa, nobody has seen and assessed his wicket keeping. Is it advisable to try him as a reserve wicket keeper for the first time in a big stage like world cup? I feel the one player who doesn't deserve to be in the squad is sehwag. As you have rightly observed, romesh powar, dinesh mongia, kaif, VVX laxman or gautham gambir could have been selected in his place. I prefer kaif from the above list. Because, he is technically more sound than sehwag, was the best home team odi batsman when we toured caribbean last time and is definitely the best fielder in the above list. Thanks.

I am fairly satisfied with the selection of indian world cup squad. As selectors have gone with tried and tested and experienced players who have won matches for India in the past, though it is true that some of them have not been in best of form as late. About Kumble's selection i feel he is genunine leg spinner who can bowl all sorts deliveries flipper, googly... and he bolwed quite well in test series in westindies enabling India to win test series. So his experience of playing at big events & esp. doing well inwest indies on slow low, pitches he can be handy. Moroeve apart from aussies other teams dont' play leg spin that well. I agree his fielding and batting needs lot to desired but then if you see romesh powar record in batting fielding i don't it is great either. Besides powar bowls off spin and we already have bhajji as offspinner who is match winner. Though i must say powar had performed really well in limited opportunities he got. Kartik has done well with bat in limited opportunities that he has got esp. in crisis situations winning us 20-20 match in south africa Beisdes he is also back wicketkeeper & good fielder. Though i also feel kaif should have been given chance in home series aginst windies to prove himself. That's why we should make such a strong impression on selectors so that there is no doubt about our selection by bagging 5 wickets or scoing 100 in imp. match.

Yes i agree with u for kumble i am not sure if it was correct getting him int the world cup squad as kumble has out of one day cricket for quite some time So i guess it would have been better to play of powar rater then kumble...But i think he is dere due to to his experience As for dinesh kartik i think he has been playing really well down the order and provides a rear guard for the Indian team in case they don't perform well so i guess there is no problem with the selection of karthik
