Men, Taking Over Cooking Responsibilities Once In A While!

What do you think about a man taking over the cooking? I have my husband and another male roomie in my home, and recently they seem to notice that i get just drained when i cook all the time, clean all the time, and more... They have decided on cooking for me, not letting me do it, because i need a break... What do you people think about men cooking? Do you think that it's a skill they should have, do you think that they should do it at all? or do you think that's the women's place? I think that it's wonderful for a man to be able to cook. I don't push it, they can cook if they want, but it does shock me when they decide i'm not allowed in MY kitchen and they begin cooking wonderful meals for me that i didn't even know they could do!!! haha. It's definately nice to be pampered. Last night i got to spend the night relaxing. Unfortunately i decided to have some rum, and relax a little more... well i think i took that one too far haha, thank god i don't get hangovers.. But it was definately nice to have a break. Then tonight my roomie cooked for me again as hubby was busy, and at first i thought he had done something wrong and was trying to butter me up... Nope, he was just doing it to be nice. I thought it was soo sweet, and amazing. My husband mostly cooks for me in the summer, he loves cooking on the barbeque, and steaks on the stovetop, but in the winter he's just tired right out. It's nice, and i do think that all men should be able to cook, at least a couple of recipes, maybe only on the barbeque even... But what shocked me the most - My roomie baked us a cake!!! hahaha, cool, totally awesome. Something my husband does well as well. Anyways, your ideas on this, experiences if you want! Lets make this a party! haha Thanks! Ash

I love to cook! Me and my father take turns when cooking, since he's on the job abroad I mostly do the cooking here eveytime I'm home. I do this because I wanted to be different from other "men", to which they prefer to be served and go by the saying that -"the best way to a man's heart is through his stomach"-. So I guess I want to the one who's serving, than being served. Always dreamed of being a chef!;)

Definately men should cook at times, especially if they are just your roommates. But my husband cooks on occasion and he is a better cook then me I think. he enjoys it more. I have a 4 year old son and I want to make sure he knows how to cook and clean and take care of himself.

i think cooking is a skill a man should have. nothing should be just a woman's job or just a man's job anymore. we should all be able to do everything to take care of ourselves and our family. My father cooks for his family. my step mom can't cook and has never cooked a meal in her life so my dad does it. when i had a boyfriend who lived with me i cooked though. i wouldn't let him cook cuase he almost burned down the house boiling water the first time i let him cook. so i was in charge of that but he was in charge of cleaning afterwards. i think both men and women should share these responsibilites.

I do the majority of cooking here and agree, it does get draining, along with tackling all the other chores. A break is nice when it happens. Unfortunately my husband shows little knowledge when it comes to anything that happens in the kitchen but does try. He will cook the things he knows how to cook, beans on toast or homemade pizza (he makes a tasty pizza) I think he has the ability to learn more, as I do with everyone, male or female. At home I try to cook and show my children (both sexes) as I go along, hopefully they will pick up a few basic, that should hopefully help them, when they venture into life in their first home.
