Were you spanked as a child?

i don't agree with spanking. i was spanked as a child and i don't think it tought me anything but violence. i became a real trouble maker and began fights at school and i really think that's because i learned to solve problems with violence. spanking didn't work at all and then my parents went to extrems and started hitting me with things instead, like metal coat hangers. so it doens't work.

I see nothing wrong in spanking a child... I was spanked when I was little and I grew up to be a woman who knows her boundaries. Before, my dad would either spank me or tell me to go to my room or both. There was only one time when he used his belt to my bottom but I did not lash out or anything because I truly deserved it. After a spanking, he would explain the reason why he did that... I guess that's why I understood. What I condone is parents spanking their kids until it causes an injury. I've heard a lot of horror stories where parents, in a fit of rage, would spank, slap or punch their kids until they were black and blue... I've also heard other stories where parents would try to drown their kids in a tub of water just to teach them "a lesson". The worst story I've heard is when this parent accidentally killed her child by putting the kid in a chest freezer and locking him up there. (can you call that an accident??) *sigh" I can't imagine myself being in a situation like that.

I was spanked as a child and I believe it helped shape my views on respect and the law.It taught me right from wrong as well as respect for people and property. I do remember the last time my mom spanked me.I was 12 and I do not remember why she did,but I do remember looking at her and asking for a family meeting as I felt I was too old for spankings(I did it without anger in my voice).That was the last time she did that.

i spanked kids to discipline!...most of the young kids today are very annoying and stubborn!...
