A content call is when an e-mail is sent telling you what types of articles they would like people to write. This month it is something on Black History month. Alot of times a higher rate is paid for articles on the content call list. One problem I see with them is you must submit them as free content:
Your entry must be published on the site by February 25th to qualify. Select the non-payment option will get your submission out there quickly! Winner will be announced on March 1st
That is on the message for this month's challenge/content call.
You should see the content call when you log onto your account and look at the messages on the left side of the screen. There is usually a higher pay out offered for content calls but there are no guarantess that your article will make the cut, so it is submitted and then its sitting on the site and you don't get paid the contest amount, or any amount that I can tell. I am sure someone knows more about htat spect than I do.
I never respond to those because they susally want them submitted as free content and one of the reasons I write freelance is so that I can write about what I enjoy, more than what is going to drive traffic to a site.
keep watching this discussion, I bett here are others who know alot more than I do about this, but I hope this helped you a little!

Thanks for clarifying that for me. I suspected that might be what a content call was but was never able to find it anywhere on AC worded quite like that.
I'm still not clear on the value of content calls. Do they bring a higher rate than other articles? Does anyone else know about their value?

I thought that the non-payment option was just a suggestion so that you'd have a better chance of getting your article published before the deadline. Is it actually required for these articles? I wish they would be more clear because it kind of matters.

BTW, I submitted a Black History Month article for pay last night and it was accepted today, so I guess that works. Although I suppose it could have disqualified me from the challenge without my knowing it. But the subtitle is there....
