Do you give your dog table food?

We have a miniature daschund and his name is Hercules. With this kind of breed, suppose to be we just have to limit his food (even if he will not stop eating if he sees food) due to future back problems. The thing about it is, he loves table food especially when my toddler purposely drops her chicken nuggets on the floor. It tickled her pink to see him sitting up and begs.
I sometimes give him a little bit here and there but am more concern on his health. What about you...do you give your pet table food too?

I do give table food to our rottweiler but I give it after everybody have done eating. I'm not giving anything to him if somebody is eating so he won't get used to begging until he used to sit and stay during eating time but he knows at the end of our meal he gets something, that's when he begs but I give it as a reward for not begging while somebody's eating. But if you are really concern of his health, just give him a little bit but not really that much and get him do some activities. Obviously our food tastes better than dog food. lol, or you might consider giving him table food instead of his normal dogfood.

That is what my husbabd always says that the dog is not stupid...he knows good food when he taste one..lol. But with a daschund common back problems and pancriatitis...very bad for them to have table food.
Thanks for the comment.

We give him a little, but we make sure he's highly active. And we're selective on what he gets too - not just making sure to avoid things not good for him, but sticking mainly to meat, no heavy sauces, etc.
I think how bad it can be depends on the activity level of your dog as well as any health concerns. If you're careful, I think it can be just fine.

Yes, he is active and we make sure that he got enough exercise playing fetch with his toys. We have to keep watch on his weight because I don't want any back problems with him.

I have a daschund as well and we feed her from the table, but not very often. She sits up and begs as well and sometimes it's just too hard when she's being so cute not to give her anything. We always make sure she eats her own food though, even if she does get a few fries or bites of meat afterward. She's scrawny though, so if she started getting big, we'd definitely cut that out.

That is what gets me all the time, him sitting up and begging and looking at me with those eyes that looks like we haven't feed him in years. There are times when he just eat his food at the end of the day because he is hoping he can get a bite here and there. But if we eat out, when we come back, he had eaten all his food. I guess he knows he is not getting any table food at the end of the day...lol.
Thanks for the response.

I have a toy poodle and we give table food. She waits until everyone is done( she's not allowed to beg) and I will give her about a tablespoon of vegatables, just enough to satisfy that she got something. Our Vet said it's alright to give vegatables and a little meat, just watch how much you give them.

I will wait for us to finish eating and give him something but sometimes my toddler gives him something. I don't know how to stop him from begging coz we keep on saying no...stop that but after a little bit, he will do it again. We just ignore him and he would stop but would go back and forth to me and my husband looking at us with those eyes. Usually it is just meat or soup but if my baby is eating some fries, he can get some.
