Is there an existing myLot dictionary of acceptable words to use in a discussion? I tried to respond to a discussion with a figure of speech that i know is accepted in the English dictionary but i was advised by myLot not to use it. Thanks in advance for your input.

I have never heard of mylot not accepting figures of speech. I wonder how myLot advised you. Look at other's posts. So many discussions use different figures of speech and they are accepted. Maybe you just had an unlucky day. Some time ago I always get a reminder that says "you are not allowed to copy and paste" while I haven't even started typing a thing. Sometime ago there were discussions about a bug in mylot but I think it's cleared now.

this happened to me as well , I am Scottish and I wrote an everyday word I use ( can't even remember what it was now) and it seems it was not a nice thing to say in another language , I just gave the discussion up in the end , still don't know what it meant lol xx

I think it happens if the words used have more thn one meaning even if you meant the inoffensive one. the only way around it if you can't find an alternative word is to use a * in place of a letter or a ! instead of a letter in the word. that way you can still tell what the word is but it is not rejected as you type it and try to post it.
