Polio vaccination in India

Polio vaccination programs in India have increased in the last few years. Every child below the age of 5 years is vaccinated 4 times every year through government programs. The child also receives polio vaccination dose with other vaccinations. This adds to nearly 25 doses in 5 years span. Is this standard within the limits of safety?
It is common sense that anything taken in excessive amount is harmful to the body. Then, how safe is it to give oral vaccination doses far beyond the standard limit to children?

We don't vaccinate here (it's an option in the USA), and I do fear the safety of vaccines, www.vaccinetruth and www.thinktwice.com have some good info. Our recommended schedule is a shot (not oral) at 2,4, & 9 months, with a booster shot at 4 or 5 years. You could ask your doctor to have the vaccine taken at a different time than your other shots.
With oral polio vaccine, sometimes people can develop polio from the vaccine itself, that's why we don't use it anymore-but I'm not sure what you would use over there. Also if you are immune supressed, it could cause problems and you have to stay away from immune supressed people for a month. If you have never received the vaccine you have to wash your hands throughly after changing the infants diaper too, the vaccine sheds in stools.
