I live in NY-- Southern tier (upstate).. Well they were right.. Who you say - the weather forecasters. We got dumped on over night-- Problem is-- it's still snowing with no signs of letting up. We already have about 1 foot of new snow.
Everyone else getting snow where you guys live??

We got quite a bit out here in Illinois too! Our schools were closed yesterday, and my daughter cried because school was closed. I used to be like that too. Thank god on valentines day it was open. I think we got about 1 or 2 feet. Chicago was a mess though. That is about 45 to 1 hr from me. They closed down part of the main drag. I don't have the news on...but I hope it is better today! How is it now Kris?

Well it's still coming down-- we've actually picked up another 2-3 inches since this morning. We went to town to make Valentine deliveries but couldn't stay long anywhere- Each time we came out the car was snowy and needed to be cleaned again!
My daughter was pretty bummed about not having school today- But they will just move the party until tomorrow. If they have school.. Calling for another 7-8 inches over night. !! YUK!

We are getting slammed too. The snow isn't supposed to stop until tomorrow morning. My husband is outside for the second time today shoveling snow. It is better to shovel 3-4 inches at a time than to shovel 12-24 inches at once.

Absolutley.. Lucky us-- we have a snow blower, 3 tractors (2 with plows- I'll never say if you buy another tractor again you'll be living out with them).. lol, and 2 4-wheelers with plows right now--- so no shoveling except the front porch..
But I do agree-- shovel in between all the snow-
I think it will never stop!

I'm not sure how far away from me you are but I just heard over the scanner from the National weather service that the snow is expected to intensify and the winds are going to become stronger with near white out conditions. And that is for late this morning into the afternoon. I can hardly wait.lol.All that shoveling I just got done doing, will have to be done all over again.

LOL--- reminds me of a joke I read a while back about shoveling and snow plows.
My sig. other has been plowing us out for hours-- He keeps plowing and then the snow plow comes by and pushes it back in again... It's kinda comical. He is now plowing out our elderly neighbor...
It hasn't stopped here yet-- It's very pretty to look at. I'm actually about 5 miles from town so it's worse up here than in town. We're going to try to head out and make our Valentine deliveries in town in about 1 hour.
Wish me luck!

I'm near NYC and we're getting the mess that swept through Ohio yesterday. Not a lot of inches of snow on the ground, but a lot of freezing rain and wind gusts up to 40mph. It's the first snow of the season, and not one people around here will forget anytime soon!

I'm near Buffalo, and we didn't get it nearly as bad as you did in "ski country". Too bad that no one will be able to get out to ski today, though! We got about 9 inches overnight, last I heard. It's snowing like crazy now and it's getting windier, which as you know is the problem with this weather. We can plow the roads and the driveways, but the blowing snow makes it so unsafe. Good thing I'm not going out of the house for a thing today. Do you have to go out! It's nice to be able to stay warm and safe at home. THINK SPRING!!!!

9 inches is still alot-- You guys got hit a bit back and we got a few inches.. I'm only about an hour and a half from Buffalo..
I agree.. plowing & shoveling is a lost effort.. the wind blows it back in and if its not the wind the Big town snow plows do. : )
I'm heading out in a few to go into town for Valentine deliveries.. Flowers and cards to my mom and grandma... We'll drive slow though.
I'm thinking SPRING! Everyday--- I can't wait!

We had about 3 inches of snow on the ground before the storm hit last night. Since then, we've gotten about another foot and it's still coming down fast. I took a picture from my front door to show a bit of the snow. It's hard to get an idea of how deep it is.....but people are walking in the streets because the snow is too deep on most of the sidewalks to get through.

Where I live (in Korea) we're only getting the lightest of light falls at the moment. I grew up in Australia without experiencing snow so of course I love every flake that falls. It's like magic. I've never experienced snow like what you and other readers describe and I appreciate it's causing a difficult situation for you. I wonder if you can even imagine there might be someone sitting here typing and wishing they were there to experience it!
