What makes one of your friends a best friend?

everybody has at least one best friend(i hope so), think about it, what makes him/her your best friend? is it because of his mutual understanding? loyalty? you're having the same interests and point of view? sympathy or even physical appearance? your comments are appreciated, thank you.

Abest fried is some you can trust with your life, heis that person you can trust with your secrets and he wili not betray you. A best friend is someone who kows your weaknessses but tolerates them ,he would alwasys bethere when you needs him.

A best friend is when that friend is always by your side no matter what, in good and bad times. Someone you can count on as if he's your own family and someone that you can trust in.

Well for me... its because that among your many friends... he stand out to be the best... Maybe to some you find it hard to cry... but with your bestfriend... you can even scream with much pain without worrying he'd laugh... maybe a bestfriend is someone who is a lot better than the others (in your opinion of course.)
