When I was at school, my teachers used red ink to mark on mistakes in my homework, assignments and exam papers. In commercial world, people use red ink to mark figures on ledgers to denote losses. Suddenly I come up with the question: does red really imply anything negative?
In my city, when the traffic signal turns red, people immediately refer it as an indication of danger. Both drivers and walkers stop before continuing their travel on the road. When red fluid flows out of the body, we know that we must be hurt and we need treatment as soon as possible. Also when a house is covered with red colored flames, we know it is on fire and need the help from fire-fighters.
However, on pondering more about the color, I recall that it is the color of Red Cross, an international organization whose mission is to help the needy people. When trapped in a n accident, red cross means rescue. Red is also the color of Christmas and Chinese new year.
What is you opinion upon the color Red? Is it you favourite color?
The Chinese characters on my picture "??" means red color.

Wow! these are some cool facts about red huh!!! I hope you won't mind me adding some positive meaning that I used to associate with red since I was a kid... I actually regard red as the color of love... coz yeah, on christmas which is a season of love for God and all the people close to our heart, red is used. Also when a man give flowers to his better half, it's usually red roses though there are some who use other varieties of flowers... and when I give out greeting cards, I often pick one with something red on it coz I feel like it does entail the emotions, feelings of love you have towards the person you're giving that card for.. :)

You have a very good view point. How about the one at the end of wavelength? How do comment on the cold colors like blue, black?

On the basis of frequency and wavelength red color is at one end and visibility of this color is maximum that is why one of the traffic signals are red.VIBGYOR In the specturm where violet has least visibility red has the maximum. It is a very significant color I feel, Those who like this color are more robust in nature with full of energy that is why even the color of blood is red.

Red is one of my favorite colors I mist admit. But i do recall getting the RED pen F in class or on a test or something when in school. That was an indication of a negative in those cases. I also use red pen at work when writing in request or even a complaint. Now a request isn't something negative but a complaint it. I think red pen is just used to make things louder. Kind of like an exclamation point. Those should be in red. But I also remmeber when I was in college they tried to get teachers to NOT use red pen stating that it cause the students to feel less of a person and as if they are a bad student/child, etc. I think it's all in your head. But I do think red it to exzagerat things.

Well, you have a point. Red is a color which catches people eyes. Maybe it has the quality of getting people to pay attention. Well, when you make mistake, you need to correct it. Marking it red may be a sign to remind you to make it right next time.

As red is a "hot" color it generally signifies anger, physical exertion, passion, love, strong emotion - violence, power, emergency, danger, purity, and joy. The emotion denoted with the color red would be dependent upon the situation -but you bring up a very interesting question.

hey, nice to have your reply. Yeah, red is hot. The sun is like a huge red hot fire ball. All plants on earth depend on its heat to live and give out oxygen.

I have never thought about the color red like this. It's true you get bad marks in school with a red x but then red is used for Christmas and also Valentine's day. So i guess red can mean good or bad depending on how it is used

Yeah, blood is red. The pretty face of a shy girl is red too. So its meaning varies according to situations. Red blood may mean danger, needs treatment. But a red face of a girl means lovely, cute.
