I admire Sardar Vallabhai Patel very much because he is a visionary leader and he thinks before his time also.Had he been given a free hand in Jammu and Kashmir in 1947-1948 he would have solved the Kashmir problem,as he has solved the problem in Hyderabad.One of the biggest blunder in Indian independent history is that Nehru has taken Kashmir issue to United Nations and got it embroiled there.

I think it is difficult to answer this question for me - one as I am not from India - and two - as politics are usually so heated and so personal. I don't necessarily disagree with you - but I think the issues around the Indian Sub-continent during the time mentioned were quite difficult and of course decisions were made at the time that have left difficult relationships in the continent to this date - but perhaps for the time may have seemed the most logical way to go.
