Should rapists get the death penalty?

I just read a discussion posted by another myloter about a child that had been raped and killed by her own uncle. And the sad thing is, this story is not that uncommon. And I think the reason for that is because there are not harsher penalties for those that commit such crimes. Sometimes they get a few years, and other unfortunate times, they get a slap on the wrist. I am a firm believer that if you're going to rape a child, you should get the death penalty. Regardless, of how many rapes. Meaning if it's one or a million. If you do it once, you should die. I don't care what your excuse is, because you have destroyed their life and have basically killed them from within. If there was the death penalty for rapists, then no rapist would ever rape another child. How many times have you heard about a rapist that has raped so many children, gone to prison, got back out, and raped some more? Where's the justice in that? And not only do they rape, but they kill their victims. Who believes that rapists should get the death penalty? And how many are against this idea? And why?
