Why do people value a dogs life more than a persons life

Most people in our state are aware of the problems we face from stray dogs. But the tourist visiting this place do not understand this problem. In our state and mostly in our country sometimes it becomes a straight choice between a dog and a human being. we don't have enough money to protect all the stray dogs in our country. In fact we don't have enough money to provide shelter to all the people in the streets. Yesterday a 15 year old girl died of rabies when she was bitten by stray dogs. There are many cases were 10 and 15 year old babies were bitten to death by packs of stray dogs. The court aware of this problem ordered the capture and killing of stray dogs. But many tourists are objecting to this. they say it is cruelty against animals. I agree. But do you want to see the crying faces of parents of little children on the media on a regular basis.I want this to stop. Most people going to Government Hospitals face shortage of Life saving vaccinations. The Government says they are doing all they can to help. But nothing much happens. Most of the victims of stray dog bites are children and poor people. They should at least be given the room for existence.

that's a very good question and yet so true. my mom has a dog and whatever she makes for herself for breakfast, she makes extra to be able to give him half and yet she makes my dad make his own breakfast. I don't understand this. i think that her spouse should come before her dog and they have had many arguments over this as well.

We humans pick dogs to be our pets. When they wake up in the morning they can't run to the kitchen to make their own breakfast, your dad can. I'm not saying she should be making a human breakfast for the dog, but like I said the dog can't go and pour it's own food. I think you mother is doing right (taking care of a dog your family/she chose), but you are partially right also, she is taking it a little too far.

Almost everyone loves dogs because unlike people, they still love you even when you don't deserve it.
Dogs will love you unconditionally much more readily than any person.
Dogs don't talk about you behind your back and will never betray or double cross you.
These are just a few of the reasons people are so fond of dogs. These things and others makes everyone's attachment to dogs very emotional. Hence, the difficulty in dealing rationally with the serious problem of stray dogs and rabies.
I would suggest a secret "hit squad" that operates at night with silenced weapons and hauls the bodies away.

The people blocking this have no other solutions for the problem. Vaccines for people bitten by dogs in our country are both expensive and in limited quantity. So there is always shortage. During the night the dogs are in packs so it is difficult to capture them. Most of the workers use common sticks or nets for capturing.I hope that will explain the problem.Regards.

I think those tourists are just ignorant. They don't understand what it's like to be in a situation where you have to choose between a person and an animal because they've never been in that situation.
Shooting strays may be cruel, but letting them die of starvation and rabies is far more cruel.

Its quite Simple as Humans Have the Power to Handle
and Care for Themselves and Animals Cannot do That.
The Answer is Quite Simple, got it!

who are we to kill stray dogs.they too are God's creation, and how can we kill them. They too have a right to live in this world. There is one way which is both good for us and for those innocent creatures. There should be a home for them so that they dont create any nuisance. It implies for each and every street animal. Thus in this way we can provide them food and shelter and can get rid of the problems caused by them.I know its difficult but each government should do this. And we all will support it.Its a noble cause, so please dont ever think of shooting stray dogs.We are humans and we must act human.
The pollution in the air, its also very bad for our children. So why dont we go and kill those owners of factories and mills. Why only Stray dogs who bites because of its nature. We must look on the both sides of the picture and if we are worried about our children then there are certainly other things more important then these stray dogs.

The stray dogs are the most important problem here because it is directly connected to the safety of people. We are living in the real world. We cannot forget the deaths of people by stray dogs because we will lose many more people. The choice here is simple and even the court has accepted this. It is dogs vs people. The court picked people.and the majority of the people who have experienced the terror or fright of packs of stray dogs have agreed to this. Only a few people visiting our state from outside have objected this because they don't have the problem we are facing here.

Here in US pets are pamper lot as they are the only one that stays with theowner till they die and hence people here are very attach to there pets and animal in general. Anyone showing cruelty to the animals are reported to the authorities which takes immediate action. Here we don't have any problem of overcrowding be it human or animals So probably when we are in developing country unconsiciously we tends to follow the usual path and try to protect the dog and most of us don't even know the problem of these places. but if explained i think we will all understand as here also if the animal get some disease which is not curable it is often killed rather than prolong there suffereing

I think most tourist visiting our country fail to see that the dogs they see around here on the roads are causing great harm to people living around them. Since most of the dog bite victims are poor they wont have adequate knowledge of the risks.Even if they have the knowledge most of the medicines are out of their financial range. If the bite victims are children they seldom escape. Thanks for commenting.

i think the person who have dogs in their house knows the importance of dogs as a family members.dogs are more important for me.they give me so much enjoyment which keep me charge everytime.my dog is more important to me than my any other friend.see rabies can be totally controlled just by vaccination.it cost about $1.dogs are really nice gift from god.

I think it's sometimes their way out of escaping reality. Maybe most of them have suffered an emotional trauma from other people, that they find it hard to trust on people. Since dogs are man's bestfriends, people rely on them as the best companion when they want to be lonely. They don't argue, they don't ask to lend them some money, and they are also faithful to their masters.
Here rabies caused by stray dog-bites are still unsolved, anti-rabies supplies are very little and casualties are still taking up it's toll.

People visiting other countries should have some basic information of the people living in that country. If not they should at least avoid doing things that will result in the endangerment of the lives of people in these countries. They shouldn't try to apply their beliefs and likes on other people, who face entirely different problems. Thanks for your comment

You should value the life of everything.
The dogs become a problem, biting, hurting ,and
killing people, then the dogs should be
eleminated, or killed.

I could care less for dogs, yeah, they are man's best friend until they sh** on your carpet, and they tend to stinnk, I don't care how many times you clean them. I had a roommate that had a German Shepard and that lil' bugger was shedding it's hair, ALL OVER MY Apartment. needless to say, I would never get a dog unless it knew how to clean itself like a cat

Stray dogs are a major problem in many countries around the world. I don't believe it's cruel to put these dogs down, after all they're not having a happy life. One thing tried in some provinces here in Thailand is an inoculation program, and to a degree it worked.

We tried inoculation. But it didn't help in any way. Any way the work for removing the stray dogs has now been temporarily suspended, because some foreigners manhandled the workers responsible for removing stray dogs from the street. And the workers are protesting against this by not declaring that they won't do their job unless action is taken against their assailants. I don't know how many more people will be affected by the time this issue is resolved.

I think that human being's life is more important than the animals but we cant just keep killing them. Instead a separate place should be alloted for such dogs so that human being dont become their victim!

It's sad that the authorities are no longer doing anything for this problem. I don't completely agree that the dogs should be killed, but it is wrong for human life to be lost. Why couldn't the country get as many dogs into the shelters as possible, then get some people to volunteer to be foster parents. Like someone before said, the vaccines shouldn't be expensive....so once the population is controlled the dogs could get their shots.

People are in danger. So we have to think about the people first. You can't allow 15 month old babies to be bitten to pieces by packs of stray dogs in front of their parents. That happened twice. We don't have enough vaccines around for people bitten by rabid dogs. So the only step is the killing of stray dogs. The shelters are already full. The government cannot even think of building any more animal shelters because of the financial crisis in the state

Dogs are termed as thankful animals. there are many breeds available. They have good memory power. A dog remembers a person even if they meet after a very long period. Dogs can be trained and used like helpers. proper vaccination and care must be given. It helps many person in their profession too, e.g,. police cod, sniffer dog,. We have two dogs at home. They are very lovely and clean.
