Today the weather was extremely bad. I went to work and had to drive very slowly. When I got to work I discovered that they delayed work by 4 hours. I found out they gave a number to call. They gave the number After most people left work. I was not to happy about this. Does any one else have similar experiences.

I work in a branch office of a bank....hopefully one of the other 5 people there would let me know, especially since they all know how terrified I get driving in this stuff!
I'm in PA, but one of the ladies at work is from Ohio. They sent us home an hour early yesterday, but no such luck today as far as starting later. It really would have been a good idea tho...TV kept saying not to go out unless it was really necessary. I really think that with ATMs and debit cards, anything else could wait till the weather clears! It amazed me that most of the people who ventured out were older people who were doing transactions that really could have waited, like renewing cd's with a week's grace period left. Don't they realize if they fall how easy it is to break bones?

Sounds like you experienced the same storm we were going through. Did you get any of that sleet. Now that makes a slippery day for anyone. I almost fell several times.

Yeah, the ice was horrible. Broke 2 ice scrapers! And living on a hill, I was petrified trying to get up and down from my driveway.

I work at a college and we often have delays or even close if the weather is bad. This is great for me, because I live on a hill that gets very icy and dangerous so even if the main roads are fairly clear getting out can be treacherous.
Oftentimes if the weather is calling for snow or ice I will make sure I can access my projects from my home computer. That way as long as I don't have meetings, appointments or on-call duty that day I can work from home. I know I'm very luck to be able to do this and that some jobs aren't as flexible!

i am very lucky whenit comes to that ..I work form home in the winter time and in the spring will go back to painting ...I can't work in this kind of cold ..so i don't have to travel in it ...thank goodness...I would be bummed if that had of happened to me too..especially with gas prices and it being so cold to be out in that type of weather... yikes

No but it depends on if you work in a small or large office. I'd be upset traveling to work and finding out that there was a 4 hour delay. What country do you live in? Because that rarely happens in America. Rain or snow, you're going to work (unless you work at a school...SNOW DAY).

Maybe I need to move to the same area of the country you live in. This happened right here in ohio.

does that mean u didnt get that sort of warning that work is going to be delayed? but anyways, look at the bright side. at least you don't have to commute to work. you have your car. from where i live, no matter how extreme the weather may be, i must go to work. sometimes i get to the office dripping because of heavy rain. so i guess, a five hour delay is not so bad huh? ^_^
