I know that Siamese are very vocal. Well, I now have a tortie. She is so noisy. She sounds like a Siamese. Do you think that she has Siamese in her? And she is so very affectionate.

All our cats are vocal. We encourage it. It is sweet when on occasion that all are asking for dinner. Like a song. 2 are barn cats, another some city cat, general made. So being vocal does not necessarily rely on being Siamese. Siamese do have a pretty distinctive sound though. Like a baby crying when heard over the phone.

It would not be unusual for he to have siamese in her family tree. The torties I had growing up did. Look at her frame, is she kind of petite? Is her body more long than chunky? She probably is a torty.

My tortie is chunky. Very affectionate, and never shuts up. I had a Siamese, and he talked a lot too. I got this one from the shelter, and don't know anything about her. She is just so loveable, but a bit heavy, and she is 15 months old on lite food. What do you think?

I have two indoor cats. One is a pure breed simease and the other is a mixed breed. They are both vocal. I talk to them and they will talk back. My husband laughs at me. I can tell what they want by the way they talk and act. I have always encouraged them to be vocal. I talk to them like they were my babies. I think cats tend to respond to the people around them. If you are vocal with them, they will be vocal back.

I have a cat and he is a cream tabby; he is sooo vocal. When I stand up; meow, when I go down the hall he follows me and; meow; I turn in sleep; meow...you get the point I am sure. He is very sweet, and it does not bother me at all, but it irrates my husband to no end.

My sister had a Siamese cat that harld made a noise (accept for wanting food or when she was in some kind of pain). I have a cat that looks to be mixed with Siamese and boy is she vocal. When I get tired of her meowing (mostly to the bird and stray cats in the neighborhood through the kitchen window or opened door) I say 'HEY' in a specific tone and she's quiet. But when she's in heat, I have to say it a couple of times before she quiets down.

Hi Margie just doing a quick drop in to say hello to my friends! We had a torty a couple of years back and she was the quietest cat we had ever owned! We also got her from a shelter so I don't know if there was a reason she was so quiet or if it is in their breeding.

I wouldn't be surprised if she had Siamese in her. My cat Shakti is half Balanese and half Siamese. Not only does he meow like a Siamese, but he PURRRRRRRRS non-stop!!! I like to put him on the phone, and let others hear him purr. One night I got him to purr on the radio. ;-) My husband calls him our little purr-machine.

Hard to tell, I think some cats are just naturally vocal. I have a munchkin cat that is very vocal. It's like he thinks he's talking. He is strange though..lol He sits in the window and makes this teeth chattering kind of noise. And today he was meowing and moaning to them or whatever he does. He's very funny, he sounds like he's saying "love you wa wa" it's quite entertaining to guests..lol

I have a part siamese cat who says almost nothing at all. And my other 3 cats only talk when it's time for dinner. We feed them dry food throughout the day, but when my husband gets home from work, he opens a can of wet cat food, and every one (cat) comes running from where ever they were in the house. That's when my 3 cats get vocal.

My cat is a Russian Blue cross who knows what, looks a little like a calico. She is very vocal. I think, she thinks she is a human and is trying to talk. We encourage her by talking back to her. She makes a cute trilling kind of meow. And it may be that Russian Blues are vocal too, cause my mom's Russian Blue is also very vocal. But the orange tabbies that my parents had before the Russian Blue were not very vocal. It could just be individual variation among cats. Breeds that are known for being vocal include: Siamese, Koret and Burmese.

Is there a chance that maybe she has come into heat/season ? We had a tortoise shell cat and when she came into season she nearly howled the house down! We quickly got her desexed and she came back to normal. hehe. But i guess some cats can be more vocal than some others. One of our cats is very vocal if she can not find me, or if she's locked outside and wants to come inside. She will wander around the house howling trying to find me, then when she sees me, she runs up to me and cuddles up against my leg. She's very affectionate!

It's hard to say purely based on the fact that she's vocal. Some cats talk more than others, and some breeds are just noisy breeds (Himalayans are also talkative). Does she have any other qualities of being part Siamese?
