I put it to you Powerful Intentions Community that Co-operative Economics is in keeping with our Christian Beliefs and our Democratic Ideals.
What is Co-operative Economics? It is simply that the Buyer and the Seller are one and the same person. In other words, consumers buy and sell to themselves or they offer themselves services. It is in effect putting our Democratic Ideals into our business practices, that is, one man/woman one vote irrespective of the number of shares one may have in the Co-op. However, the more goods you buy from the Co-op the more dividends you will receive annually.
Should you closely examine the concept of Co-operative Economics with an open mind you will come to the conclusion that it is in keeping with our Christian belief that we should love our neighbours as ourselves. Whereas the nature of the of the Capitalist Economic System is exploitation, exploitation even of human beings. For that reason there will always be a vast disparity in the distribution not only of goods but of money as well in the Capitalist System.
Now, let us compare the basic structure of the Capitalist Economic System with that of the Co-operative System. Both systems have a chain of commerciial activities. Beginning with the money supply, this is controlled by Banks and Finantial Institutions in the Capitalist System to the exclusion of the poor in that one must have substantial collateral to do business with the Banks. On the other hand, Co-operative Credit Unions teach the poor money management thereby enabling them to accumulate money for their well-being from their meager earnings.
Now, I am happy to be associated with the Powerful Intentions Community in that I perceive that the Community is supportive of its members both Spiritually and Materially. For that reason, I would recommend that the concept of Co-operative Economics be the foundation for all business transactions in the Community. Should The Community agree there would hardly be a reason for the following Disclaimer: ***NOTE: The Winnr's Circle is a Self regulated Program and is not owned by any one person. Participation is on an individual basis, totally voluntary, and there is no guarantee of income. The members mentioned in this program are for"example purposes only". Online banking options will charge fees for their services and are the sole responsibility of the member whose name is on said banking account. Spamming is prohibited. Please do not Spam! It Hurts Everyone! What is interesting about this Disclaimer is that (after paying $57.00 to join) there is no GUARANTEE that you will earn a single Dime. Frankly, I did not expect to see this kind of program here in the Community. A new Commer, I am prompted to ask whether this is a Comunity Program or some outsider trying to milk the Community.

It is always good to make money the easy way but that is not the point of my article. The point is that the time has come for consumers (especially in communities like the Powerful Intentions)to get back to basics. There was a time when we made our own Peanut Butter and raised our own chickens at home without having to worry about FOOD POISONING. That is precisely what Co-operative Economics is all about. Who would have thought that even Peanut Butter would be contaminated, especially a top Name Brand like Peter Pan. It proves, conclusively, that consumers can no longer trust commercial entities with their food supplies.
Not too long ago many of us suffered from Mad Cow poisoning, then the Chickens (even now)and the latest contaminated Peanut Butter.
The benefits derived from the practice of Co-operative Economics are enormous. Think about it, every member of the Co-ooprative is a potential supplier of the goods sold or the services provided by the Co-operative. By so doing you not only earn money as a supplier but you also get dividends at the end of the year - think about how much love, joy and peace of mind the practice of the Co-operative concept of Economics would bring to our community.

I think this is a very interesting concept and would work well in a lot of places but in the USA it could probably only work in smaller areas. Awhile back on Mylot we had every country here bashing America and one of the biggest charges was that we were too insular and didn't enter into global sports, economics etc. Apparently we meddle too much in global politics but they seem to want us everywhere else.
Anyway, I do think I've already seen this idea worked here in a small way. I sold real estate in the 1980's in Philadelphia when the rate went up and the market crashed. There were many bargains to be had and most of them went to people who had acccess to family credit unions and the like which gave reasonable interest rates.
Didn't a man from India just win a Nobel prize in economics for a concept similar to the one you're talking about?
