I feel that the treatment by our Federal government of the two Border Patrol agents who shot the drug smuggler is an outrage. We are in a war against terror yet, we punish two highly decorated Border Patrol Agents for trying to stop a drug smuggler and reward the smuggler by giving him immunity. May be the aggents should have been reprimanded for not reporting the shooting because they did not think that they had hit the smuggler. But, certainly not put on trial and sent to prision. I would like to hear the views of others on this subject.

I first heard about this incident just before my husband was sent to the border for a few months as a national guardsmen. I scared me because I was afraid if he ever had to stop anyone he would be scrutinized like these two officers. But then I realized that these officers are under scrutiny because they shot the suspects in the back. While they where crossing back over the border. These men were not shooting at the officers. I think it was use of deadly force that was unnecessary. These men were not shooting at the officers they were running away with backs turned. They were shot in the back. I think we do have to have some type of regulation on deadly force otherwise officers could just shoot anyone they wanted to without being held accountable. If those men had been shootong at the officers then I wouldn't even be questioning it.

Yes they both said that they thought that he was going to shoot them and they said that he was warned to stop or that they would shoot. However, it was their word against his and our government took his word over theirs.
