Does valentines day have meaning or is it just a commercial event.

Do people use valentines Day to express their feelings to the people they love. Some people feel it is just an excuse to sell expensive cards, flowers, candy etc. What do you think?

Valentine's Day means whatever you want it to mean. If you use it as a day to express your love to another person, that is great. To other people it is just another day. I think we should try to include people in gatherings who may not have a special friend to be with on that day if they seem sad or loney and you think they would like to be included.

That's a great point. I think people really appreciate being thought of!

I feel this became more of a commercial event than any personal event. So much of commercialism of this event makes people feel obligated to do it than doing it because you felt like doing it. At the end of the day instead of expressing yourslef you end up time trying to find some gift that suits your partner best and added stress etc.,
